This decline places the islands <strong>above the national average<\/strong> and makes them the <strong>seventh autonomous community with the sharpest fall in workplace accident rates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"748\">The figure marks a <strong>significant shift<\/strong> in workplace risk trends, as the Balearic Islands <strong>no longer lead the country in accidents in the construction sector<\/strong>, one of the areas with the highest exposure.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"929\" data-end=\"983\">Decline in workplace accidents in the Balearic Islands by sector<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"1041\">The fall in workplace accidents in the Balearic Islands extends to <strong>all economic sectors<\/strong> in 2025. The incidence rate \u2013 which measures the number of accidents resulting in sick leave per 100,000 workers \u2013 shows the following figures:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1211\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1xxd9jd\" data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1077\"><strong>Agriculture:<\/strong> 4,216.03 (-8.3%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"pco9zm\" data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1110\"><strong>Industry:<\/strong> 6,259.57 (-4.2%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"wep3fs\" data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1146\"><strong>Construction:<\/strong> 6,509.89 (-3.3%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1fmdsxw\" data-start=\"1147\" data-end=\"1177\"><strong>Services:<\/strong> 2,588.05 (-2%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"cpg7fn\" data-start=\"1178\" data-end=\"1211\"><strong>Hospitality:<\/strong> 5,203.15 (-6.2%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1366\"><strong>Agriculture and hospitality<\/strong> recorded the sharpest declines. Construction still posted high figures, but lost its position as the sector with the highest accident rate.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1545\">Trend in workplace accidents in the Balearic Islands by island<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1431\" data-end=\"1548\">The figures by island show a general downward trend in workplace accident rates in the Balearic Islands:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1550\" data-end=\"1680\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1ppkth5\" data-start=\"1550\" data-end=\"1582\"><strong>Mallorca:<\/strong> 3,730.55 (-3.83%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"ar01cs\" data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1614\"><strong>Menorca:<\/strong> 4,469.94 (-5.70%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"gbhkur\" data-start=\"1615\" data-end=\"1644\"><strong>Ibiza:<\/strong> 3,835.08 (-4.97%)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1jarr52\" data-start=\"1645\" data-end=\"1680\"><strong>Formentera:<\/strong> 2,405.08 (+14.26%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1682\" data-end=\"1801\">The increase in Formentera reflects the volatility of the data, due to its smaller active workforce.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1890\" data-end=\"1945\">Fatal workplace accidents in the Balearic Islands in 2025<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1947\" data-end=\"2071\">In 2025, <strong>15 fatal workplace accidents<\/strong> were recorded in the Balearic Islands, which represents a <strong>0.25% increase<\/strong> compared with 2024. Of these, six were <em data-start=\"1979\" data-end=\"1991\">in itinere<\/em>, and one concerned an accident in Germany in which a worker died during a circus performance.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2327\" data-end=\"2382\">Stronger prevention measures in companies<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2160\" data-end=\"2373\">The Ministry of Labour, Public Function and Social Dialogue attributes these results to the <strong>strengthening of prevention policies<\/strong>. During 2025, IBASSAL visited <strong>3,306 companies<\/strong>, a <strong>27.15%<\/strong> increase on the previous year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2375\" data-end=\"2621\">The body focuses its action on companies with higher accident rates, from three accidents upwards, with the aim of reviewing prevention systems and safety conditions. Companies generally show a collaborative attitude.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2623\" data-end=\"2857\">Monitoring has also increased in specific areas, such as the works at Palma Airport, while targeted campaigns have also been launched.
