\nThe Directorate General of Public Health<\/strong>, in collaboration with the Civil Guard<\/strong>, seized 20 tonnes of spoiled seafood and fish<\/strong> during an inspection carried out last April<\/strong> at a distribution company located in Palma<\/strong>. The products were not fit for human consumption and, according to the investigation, a significant portion had expired best-before dates<\/strong>, with some batches dating back as far as 2019<\/strong>. The company faces a \u20ac90,000 fine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the operation, Public Health technicians, supported by officers from the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA)<\/strong>, located a stored batch that also included food items that had broken the cold chain and had later been refrozen<\/strong>, a procedure expressly prohibited due to the health risks it entails.<\/p>\n

In light of these irregularities, Public Health ordered the immediate intervention and immobilisation<\/strong> of all the products, preventing them from reaching the market and therefore consumers. At the same time, the Directorate General opened an administrative sanctioning procedure<\/strong> for two very serious violations of health and consumer protection regulations.<\/p>\n

The authorities remind the public that these inspections are carried out regularly with the aim of ensuring food safety in the Balearic Islands and preventing risks to the population.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
