After a Thursday morning marked by torrential rain<\/strong>, the Balearic Islands are preparing for a new episode of instability. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasts that a new storm system will arrive on Saturday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal phenomena that will affect the entire archipelago.<\/p>\n

According to AEMET, the fast-moving front that crossed the islands on Thursday morning has already passed, leaving behind accumulations of between 20 and 30 litres per square metre in just half an hour<\/strong>. Wind gusts of up to 110 km\/h were also recorded at the Dique del Oeste in Palma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Orange alert in the Serra de Tramuntana<\/h2>\n

The AEMET has issued an orange alert for rain and wind<\/strong> on Saturday in the Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>, where the storm is expected to have its greatest impact.
\nAcross the rest of Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza, yellow alerts<\/strong> are in place for rain, wind, and coastal phenomena. In Formentera, no significant warnings have been issued for now.<\/p>\n

The Directorate General for Emergencies has urged residents to exercise extreme caution<\/strong> during this new weather episode. The situation is being closely monitored, and the Technical Advisory Committee of the METEOBAL Plan<\/strong> will meet again on Friday to update forecasts and coordinate preventive measures.<\/p>\n

Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel<\/strong>, securing objects on balconies and terraces<\/strong>, and staying informed<\/strong> through official channels.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s incidents<\/h3>\n

The 112 Emergency Coordination Centre handled 70 incidents<\/strong> between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., none of them serious. Most occurred in Mallorca (35 in Palma, 19 in Calvi\u00e0, and 5 in Llucmajor). The most frequent issues were fallen trees<\/strong>, detached urban elements<\/strong>, and water accumulation on public roads<\/strong>. Among the most notable cases were the temporary closure of the EI-800 road in Ibiza<\/strong> and the partial collapse of the roof of a healthcare centre in Palma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
