A new study by the ferry booking platform Ferryhopper<\/strong><\/a> places Mallorca in second place<\/strong> in the ranking of the best Mediterranean winter sun destinations<\/strong>, only behind Malta.<\/p>\n

According to the research, Mallorca offers an average temperature of 10.37 \u00b0C<\/strong>, with 9.97 hours of daylight per day<\/strong> and a low level of rainfall<\/strong> (around 31 millimetres per month and only 5 rainy days). The average hotel price per night<\/strong> is \u20ac154.15<\/strong>, making the island an attractive alternative for travellers seeking good weather without crowds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These indicators are reflected in its Sunshine Score of 95.01 points<\/strong>, an index that combines all analysed factors \u2013 climate, hours of sunshine, rainfall and prices \u2013 to measure the overall quality of the destination in winter.<\/p>\n

A boost for year-round tourism<\/h3>\n

The Ferryhopper report highlights that the rise of winter tourism can help diversify Spain\u2019s seasonal economy<\/strong>, especially in regions such as the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, where most activity is concentrated in the summer months.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor years, destinations like Mallorca have concentrated the majority of their visitors during the summer months, creating strong seasonality. However, the island\u2019s mild climate, cultural richness and tranquillity in winter show that it is possible to enjoy the Mediterranean all year round,\u201d explains Ferryhopper<\/strong>. \u201cMallorca has all the ingredients to attract a new type of traveller: those seeking good weather, authenticity and local experiences without the summer crowds,\u201d the platform adds.<\/p>\n

In Mallorca, events such as the almond blossom<\/strong>, hiking routes through the Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong> and cultural visits to Palma<\/strong> are gaining popularity in winter. These factors help to maintain employment<\/strong>, reduce seasonal migration<\/strong> and strengthen the local economy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Study methodology<\/h3>\n

The Ferryhopper analysis assessed the main Mediterranean winter destinations based on five key indicators<\/strong>: average temperature, daily daylight hours, monthly rainfall (in millimetres), number of rainy days, and average hotel price per night. Weather data were sourced from Weather Spark<\/strong><\/a> and price data from Kayak.com<\/strong><\/a>.
