From now on, people receiving <strong>chemotherapy<\/strong> in the day hospital have access to <strong>virtual reality headsets<\/strong> that help them <strong>relax<\/strong> and make the <strong>waiting time more bearable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"563\" data-end=\"728\">This initiative has been made possible thanks to the <strong>collaboration agreement<\/strong> with the <strong>Spanish Association Against Cancer<\/strong> (AECC) in <strong>Balearic Islands<\/strong>, which has <strong>donated the devices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"779\">How the virtual reality headsets work<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_149412\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-149412\" class=\"size-full wp-image-149412\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Gafas-de-realidad-virtual-oncologia-Hospital-Inca.webp\" alt=\"Virtual reality headsets oncology Hospital Inca\" width=\"780\" height=\"489\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-149412\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A patient at the Inca Hospital tries the virtual reality headset. Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"1024\">The headsets project <strong>videos of around 30 minutes<\/strong> in length with <strong>varied themes<\/strong>, designed to <strong>induce calm<\/strong> and <strong>reduce anxiety<\/strong>. Their main aim is to <strong>lessen the emotional impact<\/strong> of the illness through <strong>relaxation techniques<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1157\">This way, patients can enjoy an immersive environment that helps them disconnect while receiving treatment.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1157\">Proven benefits for oncology patients<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1304\">The use of virtual reality during chemotherapy has shown very positive results:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1491\">\n<li data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1355\">\n<p data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1355\"><strong>84% reduction<\/strong> in <strong>perceived pain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1356\" data-end=\"1418\">\n<p data-start=\"1358\" data-end=\"1418\"><strong>26% decrease<\/strong> in <strong>pre-treatment anxiety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1419\" data-end=\"1491\">\n<p data-start=\"1421\" data-end=\"1491\">88% of patients feel that <strong>time passes more quickly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1621\">Additionally, the system also benefits relatives and carers, who share a more relaxed and humane environment in the hospital.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1621\">A step further in healthcare humanisation<\/h3>\n<p>The initiative is part of the Humanisation Plan of the Inca Regional Hospital.
