The works<\/strong> on the new roundabout<\/strong> next to the ITV of Son Castell\u00f3<\/strong> (vehicle inspection centre) will begin in January 2026<\/strong>, after the Consell de Mallorca<\/strong> approved the final project and scheduled the awarding of the contract in December. The infrastructure will involve an investment of 3.7 million euros<\/strong> and is part of the Palma Access Plan<\/strong>, with a budget of 160 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The current roundabout, located between the S\u00f3ller road and Cam\u00ed dels Reis, has a diameter of 55 metres<\/strong> and handles 46,000 vehicles per day<\/strong>. It is a key junction, as it connects the Son Castell\u00f3 industrial estate, the ITV, Son Espases, the ring road and the S\u00f3ller road. However, its capacity has become insufficient and it causes traffic jams during rush hours.<\/p>\n

Expansion of the ITV of Son Castell\u00f3 roundabout<\/h2>\n

The approved project includes expanding the roundabout to 85 metres<\/strong>, which will improve its capacity to handle traffic and reduce congestion<\/strong>. In addition, a direct entrance and exit to Son Sardina<\/strong> will be created, along with bypass lanes from Son Castell\u00f3 and Son Espases to prevent vehicles from having to use the roundabout.<\/p>\n

The works also include the construction of a car park on Cam\u00ed de Passatemps<\/strong> and will leave the infrastructure prepared for the future civic road<\/strong> that will link Son Espases with the S\u00f3ller road, a project that will later be undertaken by Palma City Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
