Photo: Consell de Mallorca.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"910\">The study, presented by Tourism Councillor <strong data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"657\">Jos\u00e9 Marcial Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, represents the first real snapshot of illegal accommodation circulating on the island. After a year of work, the team monitored more than <strong data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"863\">400,000 listings across four platforms<\/strong>, processing over <strong data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"907\">10 million data points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"1090\">Out of an average of <strong data-start=\"938\" data-end=\"973\">20,204 listings analysed per month<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"1024\">7,978 correspond to unregistered properties<\/strong>, offering a total of <strong data-start=\"1050\" data-end=\"1087\">42,342 unlicensed tourist beds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1129\">Snapshot of unlicensed accommodation<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1208\">The data allow, for the first time, a detailed map of the situation:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1718\">\n<li data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1349\">\n<p data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1349\"><strong data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1237\">Property type<\/strong>: 50.9% are single-family homes (villas and chalets) and 47.2% are apartments in multi-family buildings.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1578\">\n<p data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1578\"><strong data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1379\">Geographical distribution<\/strong>: the municipalities of <strong data-start=\"1399\" data-end=\"1428\">Palma, Pollen\u00e7a and Alc\u00fadia<\/strong> concentrate almost a third of unlicensed activity. By regions, <strong data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1512\">Zona Nord<\/strong> leads, followed by <strong data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1558\">Mitjorn<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1564\" data-end=\"1575\">Llevant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1579\" data-end=\"1718\">\n<p data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1718\"><strong data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1602\">Municipal ranking<\/strong>: out of 53 municipalities on the island, 16 account for more than 80% of unregistered listings, with <strong data-start=\"1694\" data-end=\"1715\">Palma at the top<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1720\" data-end=\"1749\">A pioneering tool<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1750\" data-end=\"2095\">The analysis was carried out thanks to the hiring of the company <strong data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"1831\">Talk&amp;Code<\/strong>, specialised in detecting and categorising properties, along with the collaboration of the <strong data-start=\"1921\" data-end=\"1960\">Sustainable Tourism Observatory<\/strong> and other entities. According to Rodr\u00edguez, this work provides precise data to act in a \u201cmore targeted and effective\u201d way.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2097\" data-end=\"2134\">Commitment against illegal activity<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2135\" data-end=\"2294\">The Tourism Councillor reiterated that the priority of the Consell is to protect those who comply with regulations and deter those who operate outside the law:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2296\" data-end=\"2416\">\n<p data-start=\"2298\" data-end=\"2416\">\u201cWe will not tire of defending those who do things correctly while pursuing those who do not,\u201d said Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2418\" data-end=\"2652\">The official emphasised that the fight against unlicensed tourist accommodation is not aimed at increasing revenue, but at ensuring <strong data-start=\"2551\" data-end=\"2584\">legal certainty for the sector<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2589\" data-end=\"2615\">community harmony on the island<\/strong>, and a sustainable tourism model.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost four out of ten listings for holiday stays in <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/oferta-turistica-mallorca-plataformas-opera-sin-licencia\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":148665,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1515],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-148679","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy-and-tourism"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
