While the August long weekend has boosted hotel activity in much of Spain, the balance is less positive in the Balearic Islands. According to data from SiteMinder<\/strong>, bookings in the archipelago have fallen by 5.03%<\/strong> compared to the same period in 2024, and the average price per room has also dropped by 5.76%<\/strong>, standing at \u20ac458.18 per night<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This performance contrasts with the national trend, where bookings have grown by 2.82% and the average daily rate has increased by the same proportion, reaching \u20ac264.51.<\/p>\n

The Balearic decline is part of a broader adjustment in traditional destinations in the south and along the Mediterranean coast, while other regions such as northern Spain have experienced a sharp rebound, with a 9.19% increase in bookings and a 6.54% rise in prices.<\/p>\n

September, key to reversing the trend<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Despite this drop in August, the outlook for September is optimistic. SiteMinder forecasts a 3.72%<\/strong> increase in bookings and a 3.01%<\/strong> rise in the average rate compared to 2024, reaching \u20ac239.79 per night<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the platform, this growth responds to a shift in traveler preferences, as they seek milder temperatures, less crowding, and more competitive rates once the high season has ended.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boom in September tourism represents an opportunity to reduce seasonality in the Balearic Islands, spreading tourist flows throughout the year and promoting a more sustainable model,\u201d explains Tamara Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, SiteMinder\u2019s Director for Spain.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
