This measure is a response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/gobierno-autoriza-alquiler-turistico-embarcaciones-privadas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>recently published national regulation<\/strong><\/a>, which allows <strong>private recreational boats<\/strong> to temporarily switch <strong>to commercial use<\/strong>. The resolution is based on the <strong>exclusive powers<\/strong> of the Autonomous Community over <strong>public port property<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-121508 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Barcos-de-recreo.webp\" alt=\"commercial use of moorings\" width=\"780\" height=\"526\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the measure, any use of these moorings for <strong>profit-making purposes<\/strong>, such as tourist rentals of private boats, will be considered a <strong>serious offence<\/strong>. This will lead to the <strong>initiation of a sanctioning procedure<\/strong> and the <strong>immediate termination<\/strong> of the mooring authorisation. The regulation aims to preserve the balance between <strong>social moorings<\/strong>, intended for private use, and <strong>profit-oriented moorings<\/strong>, which correspond to commercial activities, according to the Government. For this reason, monitoring will be strengthened to ensure moorings are used strictly for their authorised purpose.<\/p>\n<h2>Private and commercial uses entail different needs<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ports of the Balearic Islands (PortsIB)<\/strong>, an entity under the Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle, highlights the <strong>importance of maintaining this distinction<\/strong>, as <strong>private and commercial uses<\/strong> have <strong>different and often incompatible requirements<\/strong>. Moreover, the measure seeks to ensure the <strong>safety<\/strong> of facilities and the <strong>protection of the coastal environment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution will be published soon in the BOIB and is already available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portsib.es\/ca\/noticias\/2025\/07\/25\/aviso-importante-comunicado-los-usuarios-de-los-amarres-en-base-en-los-puertos-de-gestion-directa-asignados-embarcaciones-de-recreo-para-uso-particular\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ports of the Balearic Islands website<\/strong><\/a>. Meanwhile, PortsIB has requested that concessionary entities submit, within a maximum of ten days, a provisional proposal outlining the distribution of moorings by use.
