Among them will be, once again, <strong>King Felipe VI<\/strong> at the helm of the <strong><i>Aifos<\/i><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-121495\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Felipe-VI-Aifos-Copa-del-Rey-2025.webp\" alt=\"2025 King's Cup Sailing Regatta\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><\/p>\n<p>King Felipe at the helm of the Aifos during today&#8217;s training session on Monday. Photo: COPA DEL REY.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"274\" data-end=\"531\">This year marks the <strong>43rd edition<\/strong> of this MAPFRE-sponsored event, which for the first time includes the <strong>ORC European Championship<\/strong>, the premier continental event for cruising sailing. For <strong>one week<\/strong>, Palma Bay will host <strong>intense competition and social activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"274\" data-end=\"531\">Another major highlight of this edition is the <strong>historic number of female participants<\/strong>. <strong>More than 200 sailors from 29 nations<\/strong> will compete across different classes, both in all-female teams and mixed crews. It is the highest female participation in the event\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"44\" data-end=\"82\">Classes and categories in the <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"33\" data-end=\"62\">2025 King&#8217;s Cup Sailing Regatta<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"84\" data-end=\"121\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The racing includes various ORC categories, along with special classes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"123\" data-end=\"609\">\n<li data-start=\"123\" data-end=\"201\">\n<p data-start=\"125\" data-end=\"201\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"9\" data-is-only-node=\"\">ORC 0<\/strong> (ABANCA ORC\u202f0): a high-performance fleet featuring TP52 yachts and other top monohulls. The defending champion <em data-start=\"109\" data-end=\"133\">Teatro Soho San Miguel<\/em>, skippered by Javier Banderas, is one of the favourites. King Felipe\u202fVI will also compete aboard the <em data-start=\"253\" data-end=\"260\" data-is-last-node=\"\">Aifos.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"203\" data-end=\"281\">\n<p data-start=\"205\" data-end=\"281\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"9\" data-is-only-node=\"\">ORC A<\/strong> (Sail Racing ORC A): the most international category, with 33 teams from 15 nationalities. Models like the Swan 42, DK46, Corel 45, and XP\u201150 compete here, highlighting the <em data-start=\"186\" data-end=\"198\">Elena Nova<\/em> and the <em data-start=\"204\" data-end=\"232\" data-is-last-node=\"\">Estrella Damm Sailing Team.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"283\" data-end=\"361\">\n<p data-start=\"285\" data-end=\"361\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"9\" data-is-only-node=\"\">ORC B<\/strong> (Ubico ORC B): the largest fleet, with 35 boats from 12 nationalities. This is one of the most evenly matched classes regarding length and performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"363\" data-end=\"441\">\n<p data-start=\"365\" data-end=\"441\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"9\" data-is-only-node=\"\">ORC C<\/strong> (Uber ORC C): a compact but competitive fleet with a dozen teams vying for the European title in this class.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"525\">\n<p data-start=\"445\" data-end=\"525\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"29\" data-is-only-node=\"\">ClubSwan 42 and ClubSwan 50<\/strong>: prestigious one-design classes. Around 15 boats are expected in each category, with yachts like <em data-start=\"140\" data-end=\"151\">Earlybird<\/em> (ClubSwan\u202f50) and <em data-start=\"168\" data-end=\"182\">Pez de Abril<\/em> or <em data-start=\"185\" data-end=\"192\">Nadir<\/em> (ClubSwan\u202f42) competing for victory.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"527\" data-end=\"609\">\n<p data-start=\"529\" data-end=\"609\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"24\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Balearia Women\u2019s Cup<\/strong> (Blue Sail): a fleet dedicated exclusively to female competition, racing boats provided by the organisers. Entirely female teams, many linked to the Spanish Navy or national training programmes, will participate.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"117\" data-end=\"196\">King Felipe VI trains aboard the Aifos ahead of the regatta<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"198\" data-end=\"679\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">King Felipe VI sailed today in Palma Bay aboard the <em data-start=\"281\" data-end=\"288\">Aifos<\/em>, the Spanish Navy\u2019s TP52. The day began at Porto Pi harbour, where the crew set off to the race area for a training session ahead of the official start of the 43rd MAPFRE King&#8217;s Cup.
