It will be one of the major expansions of Mallorca\u2019s railway network, with an <strong data-start=\"244\" data-end=\"293\">estimated investment of \u20ac225.5 million<\/strong>. The project involves extending the current Palma\u2013Sa Pobla line to <strong data-start=\"372\" data-end=\"390\">Port d\u2019Alc\u00fadia<\/strong>, with direct service to the <strong data-start=\"417\" data-end=\"438\">maritime station<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_119740\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-119740\" class=\"size-full wp-image-119740\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Tren-a-Alcudia-2.webp\" alt=\"Palma\u2013Alc\u00fadia train\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-119740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"1128\">The route will have a <strong data-start=\"463\" data-end=\"500\">total length of 17.1 kilometres<\/strong> and will include <strong data-start=\"512\" data-end=\"531\">six stations<\/strong>: a new station in <strong data-start=\"555\" data-end=\"567\">Sa Pobla<\/strong>, closer to the town centre, and <strong data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"625\">five additional stops<\/strong> integrated into the urban area of <strong data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"675\">Alc\u00fadia<\/strong>. Part of the line \u2014 around <strong data-start=\"703\" data-end=\"719\">5 kilometres<\/strong> \u2014 will run through a <strong data-start=\"739\" data-end=\"787\">tunnel beneath the Son Fe and Sant Mart\u00ed hills<\/strong>, avoiding the S\u2019Albufera Natural Park and reducing environmental impact. The remainder will combine a conventional rail segment of <strong data-start=\"933\" data-end=\"951\">7.6 kilometres<\/strong> and a <strong data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1006\">final 4.5-kilometre section in tram mode<\/strong>, allowing better urban integration as it will run at a maximum of <strong data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1089\">30 km\/h<\/strong> through Alc\u00fadia\u2019s most populated areas.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"1128\">More sustainable public transport<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1552\">Presented by <strong data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1192\">President of the Balearic Government, Margalida Prohens<\/strong>, the project is a commitment to a <strong data-start=\"1250\" data-end=\"1268\">more sustainable<\/strong> public transport model, aiming to <strong data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1321\">reduce road congestion<\/strong> and promote <strong data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1354\">intermodality<\/strong>. In addition to the new stations, <strong data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1439\">five park-and-ride facilities<\/strong> will be built \u2014 one in Sa Pobla and four in Alc\u00fadia \u2014 and the project will ensure <strong data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1551\">connection with the TIB interurban bus network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1554\" data-end=\"1964\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The line will allow travel from Sa Pobla to the first stop in Alc\u00fadia, on the <strong data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1653\">Avinguda Tuc\u00e0<\/strong>, in just <strong data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"1679\">13 minutes<\/strong>, with the full journey to the <strong data-start=\"1720\" data-end=\"1740\">commercial port<\/strong> taking <strong data-start=\"1744\" data-end=\"1758\">24 minutes<\/strong>.
