In just <strong>four days<\/strong>, from 15 to 18 May, more than <strong>3,000 kilos of Mallorcan sardines<\/strong> were consumed, a figure that <strong>greatly exceeded initial expectations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_119564\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-119564\" class=\"size-full wp-image-119564\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Fira-de-Sardina-2025-Palma.webp\" alt=\"Fira de la Sardina Palma\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-119564\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Ajuntament de Palma.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"424\" data-end=\"768\">The public\u2019s response was so enthusiastic that by <strong>Friday<\/strong>, the second day of the fair, the total quantity planned for the entire week had already been sold out. In response, <strong>three additional boats went out fishing that very day<\/strong>, despite it not being a usual fishing day, to ensure a fresh supply of sardines until the event\u2019s conclusion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"1107\">Domingo Bonn\u00edn, chief skipper of the Confraria de Pescadors de Palma, celebrated the results: \u201cWe knew that Mallorcan sardines had <strong>potential<\/strong>, but the response has exceeded all our expectations. This fair has shown that local products are successful, and that when the public has access to them, they <strong>appreciate and consume them<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1292\">As a demonstration of social commitment, the Confraria donated nearly <strong>90 kilos of unsold sardines<\/strong> to the <strong>Associaci\u00f3 Tardor<\/strong>, an organisation that works with people in vulnerable situations.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1292\">Thousands of visitors at the first fira de la sardina<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1627\">The <strong>Moll de Pescadors<\/strong> was filled over the weekend with <strong>thousands of visitors<\/strong> and more than <strong>40 marquees<\/strong> dedicated to <strong>gastronomy, maritime culture, crafts, music, and children\u2019s activities<\/strong>. The sardine was the main attraction and was established as a symbol of <strong>local produce and Mallorca\u2019s fishing tradition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1939\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The fair also benefited from the collaboration of numerous institutional, social, and cultural organisations and companies, enriching the programme and ensuring a diverse and engaging experience.
