This figure matches that of April 2024 but remains <strong>below the historical average<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"766\">By island, <strong>Mallorca<\/strong> saw a slight increase, rising from <strong>53% to 54%<\/strong>. Menorca remains <strong>stable at 51%<\/strong>, while Eivissa continues its <strong>upward trend<\/strong>, reaching <strong>40%, up from 39%<\/strong> the previous month.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-119505 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Reservas-Hidricas-abril-2025.webp\" alt=\"Water reserves April 2025\" width=\"780\" height=\"439\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"1143\">The <strong>evolution of the reserves<\/strong> has led to mixed movements in drought management scenarios. Five Demand Units (DU) have seen <strong>declines<\/strong> in their indices: <strong>Menorca, Art\u00e0, Manacor-Felanitx, Tramuntana Norte and Formentera<\/strong>. Two DUs \u2013 <strong>Es Pla and Palma-Alc\u00fadia<\/strong> \u2013 have <strong>remained stable<\/strong>, while three have shown improvement: <strong>Migjorn, Tramuntana Sur and Eivissa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1145\" data-end=\"1559\">Despite these changes, no modifications have been made to the management scenarios. The Demand Units (DUs) of <strong>Tramuntana Norte and Tramuntana Sur<\/strong> remain in a <strong>normal situation<\/strong>, representing <strong>17.6% of the territory<\/strong>. The remaining eight DUs \u2013 Menorca, Art\u00e0, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, Es Pla, Palma-Alc\u00fadia, Eivissa and Formentera \u2013 continue in a pre-alert scenario, covering <strong>82.4%<\/strong> of the Balearic territory.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1819\">The <strong>overall index of the Hydrographic Demarcation<\/strong> currently stands at <strong>0.475<\/strong>, a <strong>higher figure than a year ago<\/strong> (0.455), but <strong>lower than that recorded two years ago<\/strong> (0.555).<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"1844\"><strong data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"1844\">April dry and warm<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1846\" data-end=\"2267\">According to the <strong>State Meteorological Agency<\/strong> (AEMET), April was a <strong>dry month<\/strong> across the archipelago, with an average rainfall of 15.1 litres per square metre, well below the usual 41.3 l\/m\u00b2. By island, Mallorca recorded 13.9 l\/m\u00b2 compared to a historical average of 43.8 l\/m\u00b2; Menorca 28.4 l\/m\u00b2 (average: 36.4 l\/m\u00b2); Ibiza 9.7 l\/m\u00b2 (average: 32.5 l\/m\u00b2); and Formentera just 6.8 l\/m\u00b2 compared to an average of 23.2 l\/m\u00b2.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2269\" data-end=\"2532\">As for <strong>temperatures<\/strong>, April was <strong>very warm<\/strong>, with an average of <strong>15.9 \u00baC<\/strong> and a <strong>positive anomaly of 1.2 \u00baC<\/strong> above usual values. This temperature increase may have contributed to <strong>higher evaporation<\/strong>, thereby hindering aquifer recharge.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2534\" data-end=\"2560\"><strong data-start=\"2534\" data-end=\"2560\">Outlook for May<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2562\" data-end=\"2880\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Given the current weather conditions, the start of the summer season and the low rainfall recorded, a <strong>decline in water reserves is expected during May<\/strong>.
