{"id":119501,"date":"2025-05-19T09:38:47","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T07:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/crecimiento-economico-balears-2025-2026\/"},"modified":"2025-05-19T10:34:45","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T08:34:45","slug":"crecimiento-economico-balears-2025-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/crecimiento-economico-balears-2025-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Balearic Islands will lead economic growth in Spain between 2025 and 2026, according to Airef"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"176\" data-end=\"512\"><strong>The Balearic Islands<\/strong> are emerging as the <strong>Spanish region<\/strong> with the <strong>highest economic growth<\/strong> between <strong>2025 and 2026<\/strong>, according to the latest <em data-start=\"357\" data-end=\"436\">Monitoring Report on the Medium-Term Fiscal and Structural Plan 2025\u20132028<\/em> published by the <strong>Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility<\/strong> (Airef).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"176\" data-end=\"512\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-119497 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Crecimiento-economico-Balears.webp\" alt=\"Economic growth Balearic Islands\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"853\">The organisation estimates that the <strong>Gross Domestic Product<\/strong> (GDP) of the Balearic Islands will grow by <strong>2.9% in 2025<\/strong>, surpassing both the <strong>national average<\/strong> of <strong>2.3%<\/strong> and all other Spanish regions. For 2026, the forecast points to a <strong>1.9% growth<\/strong>, matched only by the <strong>Community of Madrid<\/strong> and <strong>two tenths above the national average<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"855\" data-end=\"1130\">These figures are even <strong>more optimistic<\/strong> than those presented by the Directorate General for Economy and Statistics of the Government of the Balearic Islands, which forecasted a 2.7% increase for 2025. However, Airef officially endorsed these projections on 8 May.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1181\"><strong data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1181\">Downward trend in public debt<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1575\">Beyond economic growth, Airef highlights the <strong>positive development of public finances in the Balearic Islands<\/strong>. The region has been able to <strong>progressively reduce its public debt<\/strong>, both in <strong>absolute and relative terms<\/strong>. In 2024, the <strong>debt-to-GDP ratio<\/strong> stood at <strong>19.7%<\/strong>, falling below 20% for the first time since <strong>2012<\/strong>, with a total debt of 8.121 billion euros.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1577\" data-end=\"1843\">According to the report, this downward trend will continue thanks to <strong>sustained economic growth<\/strong> and the expected <strong>primary surpluses<\/strong> in the coming years. It is estimated that public debt could fall to around <strong>15% of GDP by 2029<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1845\" data-end=\"1883\"><strong data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1883\">A positive economic outlook<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1885\" data-end=\"2260\">Airef\u2019s report reinforces the favourable economic outlook for the Balearic Islands, establishing the region as one of the <strong>country\u2019s economic drivers in the medium term<\/strong>.
