Growth was clearly <strong>driven by international connections<\/strong>, which brought in more than <strong>2.2 million travellers<\/strong>, an increase of <strong>10.2%<\/strong> compared to April last year. In contrast, <strong>domestic flights<\/strong> saw a <strong>slight decrease of 0.5%<\/strong>, with <strong>772,660 passengers<\/strong>, reflecting more moderate activity in the domestic market. It is worth noting that <strong>Holy Week in 2025 took place in April<\/strong>, unlike the previous year, when it fell in March.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_119488\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-119488\" class=\"size-full wp-image-119488\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aeropuerto-de-Palma.Foto-AENA.webp\" alt=\"Palma Airport\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-119488\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Palma de Mallorca-Son Sant Joan Airport. Photo: AENA.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1317\">In terms of operations, April also set a <strong>record<\/strong> with <strong>22,552 flight movements<\/strong> \u2014 both take-offs and landings \u2014 at Palma Airport. Of these, more than <strong>69%<\/strong> were <strong>international flights<\/strong>, highlighting the airport\u2019s strong focus on the <strong>global market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1780\">The impact of international tourism also extends to the <strong>year-to-date figures<\/strong>: between <strong>January and April<\/strong>, the airport welcomed <strong>6.5 million passengers<\/strong>, a <strong>4.3% increase<\/strong> compared to the same period in 2024, cementing Palma de Mallorca\u2019s role as a <strong>strategic hub for Mediterranean air traffic<\/strong>. Additionally, <strong>aircraft movements<\/strong> rose by <strong>2.9%<\/strong>, reaching over <strong>53,000 operations<\/strong>, signalling increased activity and demand in the region.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2023\" data-end=\"2251\"><strong>aena group airports in figures<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2023\" data-end=\"2251\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The airports managed by Aena Group (comprising 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed April 2025 with 32,342,698 passengers, a 6.2% increase compared to the same month in 2024; they handled 274,866 aircraft movements, up 0.9% from 2024; and transported 119,766 tonnes of cargo, 6.8% more than last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Palma de Mallorca-Son Sant Joan Airport experienced a significant increase <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/aeropuerto-palma-abril-2025\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":119489,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1515,1513],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-119492","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy-and-tourism","category-society"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
