Moll de Pescadors transforms from 15 to 18 May<\/strong> into the epicentre of local produce<\/strong> and seafaring tradition<\/strong> with the celebration of the first edition of the Fira de la Sardina de Palma (First Sardine Festival)<\/strong>. This initiative, promoted by the Fishermen\u2019s Guild<\/strong> in collaboration with the Palma City Council<\/strong>, aims to highlight the value of the Mallorcan sardine<\/strong>, encourage the consumption of oily fish<\/strong> and give visibility to the traditional fishing of the Balearic Sea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The fair features more than 40 tents<\/strong> offering tastings, gastronomic displays, cultural activities and spaces dedicated to promoting the fishing trade<\/strong>. This proposal answers a historic demand from the sector<\/strong>, which has long sought a dedicated space<\/strong> to showcase and celebrate one of the island\u2019s most representative products.<\/p>\n

Uniting the fishing sector and local hospitality<\/h2>\n

\u201cThis fair is a great opportunity to bring together Palma\u2019s fishing sector and the local hospitality industry<\/strong>, and to highlight a product of ours like the Mallorcan sardine,\u201d stressed the president of the Fishermen\u2019s Guild, Domingo Bonnin<\/strong>, while also thanking all the institutions that made it possible, such as Palma City Council, \u201cwhich laid the first stone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fira de la Sardina de Palma<\/strong> is designed for all audiences<\/strong>, with a programme including family activities, workshops, performances and exhibitions<\/strong> linked to seafaring culture. The institutions have called on citizens to join the event and participate<\/strong> in an experience that combines history, flavour and commitment to the environment. This fair is not just a gastronomic event but represents much more and \u201cbrings us closer to tradition, culture, traditional fishing, and above all, to this product we all know and appreciate: the Mallorcan sardine,\u201d said during the event presentation the first deputy mayor and councillor for Tourism, Culture, Sports and Municipal Coordination, Javier Bonet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
