\n Fir\u00f3 de S\u00f3ller 2025<\/strong> will take place on Monday 12 May<\/strong>, as part of Sa Fira in the Mallorcan town, commemorating the defence of the valley against the attack by Turkish-Algerian corsairs in 1561. This festival, declared of cultural interest<\/strong>, is a popular re-enactment full of symbolism, where the town relives a historic feat through parades, music, period costumes and staged battles between Moors and Christians.\n<\/p>\n

\n The main day of Sa Fira begins in the morning with a floral offering in honour of the Heroes of 11 May and a mass at Can Tamany, attended by the Valentes Dones<\/strong> and other historical figures. In the afternoon, the main events begin: the rousing speech by Captain Angelats<\/strong>, the Moorish troops’ landing in the port, and several symbolic battles \u2014Trav\u00e9s<\/strong>, Can Repic<\/strong>, Pont de Barona<\/strong>\u2014 which culminate in the sacking of the town square and the final victory of the people of S\u00f3ller. The celebration ends with the singing of La Balanguera<\/em><\/strong> and the procession of the Mare de D\u00e9u de la Vict\u00f2ria<\/strong>.\n<\/p>\n

Origins of Fir\u00f3 de S\u00f3ller 2025<\/h2>\n

\n The origin of the Fir\u00f3 dates back to 11 May 1561, when the people of S\u00f3ller repelled a pirate assault with a heroic defence. Although originally celebrated in a religious context, in 1855 the battle re-enactment was introduced for the first time, eventually becoming the central part of the festivities. Today, the Fir\u00f3 is a vibrant expression of collective identity, featuring historical figures such as the Rei Moro<\/strong>, the Virrei de Rocafull<\/strong>, the Valentes Dones (the sisters Catalina and Francisca Casasnoves, who defended their home during the pirate attack), and Captain Angelats, who led the defence of the town with the cry “A la lluita, sollerics!”.\n<\/p>\n
