Regarding air traffic, <strong>30,502 flight operations<\/strong> were recorded between January and March, which reflects a <strong>1.1% increase<\/strong> compared to the previous year, according to data provided by Aena.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-116035 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Aeropuerto-de-Palma-2.webp\" alt=\"son sant joan\" width=\"780\" height=\"519\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/nav>\n<article>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"864\">The month of <strong>March<\/strong>, in particular, showed remarkable figures, with <strong>1,551,262 passengers<\/strong> passing through the facilities of Son Sant Joan Airport, a <strong>1.5% increase<\/strong> compared to the same month in 2024. This increase occurred despite the fact that <strong>Holy Week<\/strong> in 2024 took place in March, whereas in 2025 it is celebrated in April, a difference that has historically influenced passenger numbers, as the holiday period tends to <strong>generate higher traffic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"864\">International flights on the rise at Son Sant Joan<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"866\" data-end=\"1182\">The majority of travellers in March were on <strong>commercial flights<\/strong>, which totalled <strong>1,550,847 passengers<\/strong>. Of this total, <strong>727,508<\/strong> travelled on <strong>domestic flights<\/strong>, reflecting a slight decrease of 1.6%, while <strong>823,339<\/strong> chose international routes, experiencing a <strong>4.4% growth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1360\">In terms of flight operations, the Mallorcan airport managed <strong>12,627 flights<\/strong> during March, an increase of <strong>1.3%<\/strong> compared to 2024.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1376\"><strong data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1376\">Aena Group<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1378\" data-end=\"1872\">At the level of the entire Aena Group, which encompasses <strong>46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London-Luton Airport, and 17 airports in Brazil<\/strong>, the third month of 2025 concluded with a total of <strong>28,775,355 passengers<\/strong>, representing a <strong>4.3% increase<\/strong> compared to March 2024.
