{"id":118687,"date":"2025-04-08T16:08:28","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T14:08:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/transporte-aereo-telecomunicaciones-y-energia-los-sectores-con-mas-reclamaciones-en-balears\/"},"modified":"2025-04-08T16:14:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T14:14:09","slug":"reclamaciones-balears-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/reclamaciones-balears-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Air transport, telecommunications and energy, the sectors with the most complaints in the Balearic Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong data-start=\"221\" data-end=\"321\">Airlines, telecommunications companies and electricity suppliers<\/strong> were the sectors that registered the most complaints in <strong>Balearic Islands<\/strong> during <strong>2024<\/strong>, according to the Consumer Affairs report from the regional government, which recorded a total of <strong data-start=\"454\" data-end=\"470\">7,629 complaints<\/strong>, 90 more than the previous year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-118684 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Maletas-avion.webp\" alt=\"Suitcases on an aeroplane\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the second consecutive year, complaints against airlines exceeded those against telecommunications companies, totalling <strong data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"928\">780 complaints<\/strong>. The main reasons were the <strong data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1007\">charge for printing boarding passes<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1045\">charge for hand luggage<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1102\">mandatory paid seat selection<\/strong>, practices that are common among low-cost airlines. In second place, telecommunications companies (telephone, internet and television) registered <strong data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1286\">697 complaints<\/strong>, while electricity suppliers accumulated <strong data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1366\">639<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Other notable complaints were against <strong>leisure and entertainment companies<\/strong>, related to fraudulent tickets, cancelled concerts, and prohibiting food at water parks and concerts, accounting for <strong>636 complaints<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Rising sectors<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1554\"><strong data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1594\">Technical assistance and repairs<\/strong>: 587 complaints, mainly about vehicle, household appliance and electronic device repairs, 38 more than the previous year.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1709\" data-end=\"1811\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1711\" data-end=\"1811\"><strong data-start=\"1711\" data-end=\"1736\">Vehicle rentals<\/strong>: upward trend with 299 complaints in 2024, compared to 275 in 2023 and 189 in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1812\" data-end=\"1923\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1814\" data-end=\"1923\"><strong data-start=\"1814\" data-end=\"1839\">Financial services<\/strong>: 570 complaints, compared to 415 in 2023, which are referred to the Bank of Spain or the Directorate-General for Insurance as they are not processed directly by Consumer Affairs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Inspection and penalties<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2262\" data-end=\"2546\">The <strong data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2327\">Consumer Affairs Inspection and Market Surveillance Service<\/strong> carried out <strong data-start=\"2341\" data-end=\"2362\">2,711 inspections<\/strong> in 2024, withdrawing <strong data-start=\"2382\" data-end=\"2402\">11,932 products<\/strong>. In addition, <strong data-start=\"2426\" data-end=\"2445\">539 inspections<\/strong> were conducted specifically to withdraw hazardous industrial products detected through the national alert network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2548\" data-end=\"2773\">Regarding <strong data-start=\"2564\" data-end=\"2577\">penalties<\/strong>, the total amount imposed was <strong data-start=\"2612\" data-end=\"2631\">1,351,260 euros<\/strong>, of which <strong data-start=\"2647\" data-end=\"2664\">853,025 euros<\/strong> originated from consumer complaints and reports and <strong data-start=\"2722\" data-end=\"2739\">498,235 euros<\/strong> from inspection actions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2775\" data-end=\"2819\">The most penalised sectors included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2820\" data-end=\"3352\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2820\" data-end=\"3001\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2822\" data-end=\"3001\"><strong data-start=\"2822\" data-end=\"2855\">Contractual breaches<\/strong>: twenty cases related to fraud in distance selling and issues with guarantees for products such as mobile devices and household appliances.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3002\" data-end=\"3169\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3004\" data-end=\"3169\"><strong data-start=\"3004\" data-end=\"3027\">Vehicle sector<\/strong>: 5% of the penalised cases were related to fraud in the sale of second-hand vehicles and deficient services in repair workshops.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3170\" data-end=\"3352\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3172\" data-end=\"3352\"><strong data-start=\"3172\" data-end=\"3192\">Air transport<\/strong>: six cases against low-cost airlines, mainly for improper charges for hand luggage, in actions promoted by the regional government.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Airlines, telecommunications companies and electricity suppliers were the sectors that <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/reclamaciones-balears-2024\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":118685,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1513],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-118687","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-society"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
