{"id":118631,"date":"2025-04-07T09:45:02","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T07:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/estado-embalses-mallorca-marzo-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-04-07T10:05:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T08:05:24","slug":"estado-embalses-mallorca-marzo-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/estado-embalses-mallorca-marzo-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"State of the reservoirs in Mallorca in March 2025: water reserve increases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"528\"><strong data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"399\">Water reserves in Mallorca slightly improved in March, reaching 53%, one point higher than the previous month.<\/strong> However, this figure remains below that recorded during the same period last year, when it stood at 56%.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"530\" data-end=\"559\">Slight improvement in Mallorca<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"967\">According to the latest data from the Government of the Balearic Islands, <strong data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"691\">the island of Mallorca has increased its water reserves from 52% to 53%<\/strong> during the month of March. This slight improvement fits within a general trend of stabilization across the archipelago, where the average reserve level stands at 52%. Menorca remains at 51%, while Eivissa has seen a more significant increase, from 34% to 39%.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"969\" data-end=\"1008\">Changes in drought management scenarios<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1341\">The increase in reserves has led to some changes in drought management scenarios. In Mallorca, several <strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1158\">Demand Units (DU)<\/strong> have improved their indexes, such as Art\u00e0, Manacor-Felanitx, es Pla, Palma-Alc\u00fadia, and Tramuntana Sud. However, others like Migjorn and Tramuntana Nord have experienced a slight decline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1706\">In this context, <strong data-start=\"1361\" data-end=\"1427\">the DU es Pla has shifted from a normal state to pre-alert<\/strong>, while <strong data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1496\">Tramuntana Sud remains in a state of normality<\/strong>, along with Tramuntana Nord and Formentera. In total, <strong data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1600\">82.4% of the Balearic territory is in pre-alert<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1606\" data-end=\"1652\">17.6% remains in a state of normality<\/strong>. Currently, no area is in an alert state.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1737\">Very wet and warm March<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"2007\">One of the key factors in this evolution has been the weather. According to AEMET, <strong data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"1878\">March was very wet<\/strong>, with an average of <strong data-start=\"1897\" data-end=\"1943\">81.4 liters per square meter in Mallorca<\/strong>, more than double the historical average for this month (35.4 l\/m\u00b2).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2297\">On the other hand, <strong data-start=\"2025\" data-end=\"2087\">temperatures were also higher than usual<\/strong>, with an average of <strong data-start=\"2106\" data-end=\"2117\">13.4 \u00baC<\/strong> and a positive anomaly of +0.8 \u00baC. This temperature increase has encouraged evaporation, which may partially limit aquifer recharge despite the abundant rainfall.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2299\" data-end=\"2369\">General balance: reservoirs still below historical levels<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2371\" data-end=\"2661\">Despite the slight increase in March, the <strong data-start=\"2412\" data-end=\"2461\">Hydrographic Demarcation Index (0.478)<\/strong> remains below last year\u2019s value (0.513) and is also lower than that of two years ago (0.575).
