Thanks to this improvement, the region is no longer leading the occupational accident rate in Spain and has dropped three places in the ranking, now sitting behind Andalusia, La Rioja, and Navarre.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"901\">Moreover, the rate of fatal workplace accidents has decreased by <strong data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"819\">29.41%<\/strong> compared to 2023, when this figure had risen by <strong data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"898\">142.86%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"901\">In this regard, the regional secretary for labour, employment, and social dialogue, <strong data-start=\"2492\" data-end=\"2511\">Catalina Cabrer<\/strong>, stated that &#8220;the data reflects a sustained reduction in occupational accidents and confirms that the intensive work of the Institut de Seguretat i Salut Laboral (IBASSAL) is yielding results&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1219\">Indeed, one of the key factors contributing to this improvement has been the inspections and visits carried out by IBASSAL, which have reached <strong data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1119\">2,060 actions in 2,682 companies<\/strong>, aimed at ensuring compliance with occupational risk prevention systems.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1245\"><strong data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1243\">Data by islands<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1382\">The overall reduction in the <strong data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1317\">occupational accident rate in Balears<\/strong> was <strong data-start=\"1330\" data-end=\"1339\">6.7%<\/strong>. However, figures vary by island:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1488\">\n<li data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1409\"><strong data-start=\"1386\" data-end=\"1399\">Mallorca:<\/strong> -5.47%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1410\" data-end=\"1434\"><strong data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1424\">Eivissa:<\/strong> -4.90%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1435\" data-end=\"1459\"><strong data-start=\"1437\" data-end=\"1449\">Menorca:<\/strong> +7.92%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1460\" data-end=\"1488\"><strong data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1477\">Formentera:<\/strong> +11.37%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1490\" data-end=\"1517\"><strong data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1515\">Data by sectors<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1599\">The decline in occupational accidents has been reflected in almost all sectors:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1775\">\n<li data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1630\"><strong data-start=\"1603\" data-end=\"1619\">Agriculture:<\/strong> -15.62%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1631\" data-end=\"1660\"><strong data-start=\"1633\" data-end=\"1650\">Construction:<\/strong> -9.37%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1661\" data-end=\"1687\"><strong data-start=\"1663\" data-end=\"1677\">Services:<\/strong> -7.92%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1688\" data-end=\"1715\"><strong data-start=\"1690\" data-end=\"1705\">Hospitality:<\/strong> -3.43%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1775\"><strong data-start=\"1718\" data-end=\"1732\">Industry:<\/strong> +0.91% (below the +3.82% recorded in 2023)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1777\" data-end=\"1818\"><strong data-start=\"1780\" data-end=\"1816\">Measures and prevention campaigns for occupational accidents in Balears<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1819\" data-end=\"2021\">To continue this downward trend, the Balearic Government has launched a new campaign under the slogan <strong data-start=\"1936\" data-end=\"1971\">&#8220;La seguretat \u00e9s cosa de tots&#8221; (Safety is everyone&#8217;s responsibility)<\/strong>, aimed at workers, businesses, and the self-employed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1819\" data-end=\"2021\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-118234 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/La-seguridad-es-trabajo-de-todos-cartel.webp\" alt=\"occupational accidents\" width=\"715\" height=\"454\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2023\" data-end=\"2100\">IBASSAL has also intensified its prevention measures, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2373\">\n<li data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2147\">Visits to companies with fragile roofing.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2148\" data-end=\"2231\">Inspections to prevent workers&#8217; exposure to noise and occupational diseases.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2232\" data-end=\"2304\">Assessments of the risk of exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2373\">Investigations into workplace accidents caused by chemical substances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2682\" data-end=\"2878\">Additionally, inspections will continue to reinforce workplace safety across the region.
