In <strong>2024<\/strong>, its <strong>sales increased by 4%<\/strong> compared to the previous year, reaching <strong>more than 5.2 million litres<\/strong> sold, up from <strong>5 million<\/strong> in 2023, with a <strong>total economic value exceeding 43 million euros<\/strong>. However, <strong>total production decreased by 22%<\/strong>, dropping from <strong>6.8 million<\/strong> litres in 2023 to <strong>5.3 million in 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_118121\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118121\" class=\"wp-image-118121 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Vino-de-calidad-de-Balears-e1742208562159.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"585\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Vino-de-calidad-de-Balears-e1742208562159-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Vino-de-calidad-de-Balears-e1742208562159.webp 780w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-118121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"626\" data-end=\"1139\">These figures have been published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, through the Directorate-General for Agri-Food Quality and Local Products. The report includes data on the production and sales of quality-labelled wines from the Balearic Islands, including the <strong>Denominations of Origin<\/strong> (DO) <strong>Binissalem<\/strong> and DO <strong>Pla i Llevant<\/strong>, as well as various geographical indications under <strong>Vi de la Terra<\/strong>: <strong>Mallorca<\/strong>, <strong>Menorca Island, Ibiza, Formentera, Serra de Tramuntana, and Balearic Islands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1571\">Regarding these results, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, <strong>Joan Simonet<\/strong>, considers this growth a very positive outcome &#8220;in a context of widespread stagnation in the European wine market. This 4% increase represents a <strong>very good result<\/strong>, especially considering that <strong>we are growing above<\/strong> other Spanish DOs such as <strong>Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Rueda<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1642\">Sales of <strong>quality wine from the Balearic Islands<\/strong> in 2024:<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"2298\">\n<li data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"1839\">\n<p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"1669\"><strong data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"1667\">By type of wine:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1672\" data-end=\"1839\">\n<li data-start=\"1672\" data-end=\"1751\">Red wine breaks its downward trend and increases sales by 5.2%.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1754\" data-end=\"1839\">White wine continues its upward trend, rising by 6% compared to 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1841\" data-end=\"2298\">\n<p data-start=\"1843\" data-end=\"1862\"><strong data-start=\"1843\" data-end=\"1860\">By market:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"2298\">\n<li data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"1956\"><strong data-start=\"1867\" data-end=\"1894\">Sales in mainland Spain:<\/strong> increased by 75% (from 3% of the total in 2023 to 5.1% in 2024).<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1959\" data-end=\"2006\"><strong data-start=\"1961\" data-end=\"1981\">Domestic consumption:<\/strong> remains steady at 77%.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2072\"><strong data-start=\"2011\" data-end=\"2047\">Exports to non-EU countries:<\/strong> grew by 17.5%.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2075\" data-end=\"2298\"><strong data-start=\"2077\" data-end=\"2113\">Main international markets:<\/strong>\n<ul data-start=\"2120\" data-end=\"2298\">\n<li data-start=\"2120\" data-end=\"2163\"><strong data-start=\"2122\" data-end=\"2135\">Germany:<\/strong> 63% of exports.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2187\"><strong data-start=\"2170\" data-end=\"2180\">Switzerland:<\/strong> 11%.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2192\" data-end=\"2214\"><strong data-start=\"2194\" data-end=\"2208\">Denmark:<\/strong> 6%.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2219\" data-end=\"2298\"><strong data-start=\"2221\" data-end=\"2238\">Other countries:<\/strong> 18%, with a notable increase in Scandinavian countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2787\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Regarding domestic consumption, the Director-General for Agri-Food Quality and Local Products, Joan Llabr\u00e9s, emphasises that &#8220;one of the Ministry\u2019s objectives, as outlined in the Local Product Promotion Plan, is to increase the sales of our wines within our islands. Work is already underway to stimulate domestic demand, targeting individual consumers as well as visitors and the hospitality sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2787\">Fourteen Mallorcan wineries present at ProWein 2025<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2787\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">A total of <strong data-start=\"194\" data-end=\"208\">14 Mallorcan wineries<\/strong> will take part from 16 to 18 March in <strong>ProWein 2025<\/strong>, the world&#8217;s largest wine fair held in D\u00fcsseldorf (Germany). Ten of them will exhibit at the <strong data-start=\"260\" data-end=\"293\">Consell de Mallorca stand<\/strong>, where more than <strong data-start=\"321\" data-end=\"339\">60 wine references<\/strong> from the island will be showcased. This space will host <strong data-start=\"388\" data-end=\"404\">eight wineries<\/strong> from the IGP <strong data-start=\"415\" data-end=\"442\">Vi de la Terra Mallorca<\/strong>\u2014Mesquida Mora, Castell Miquel, Bodega Son Prim, Bodega 7103, Tianna Negre, Oliver Moragues, Maci\u00e0 Batle, and Son Juliana\u2014, along with <strong data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"586\">two wineries<\/strong> from the <strong data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"610\">DO Binissalem<\/strong>, Biniagual and Jos\u00e9 Luis Ferrer (Franja Roja).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2787\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Additionally, four other Mallorcan wineries will have their own representation at the fair: <strong data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"775\">Can Axartell and Binigrau<\/strong>, which have opted to exhibit independently, and wineries <strong data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"878\">Miquel Gelabert and Miquel Oliver<\/strong>, which will participate within the <strong data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"942\">DO Pla i Llevant<\/strong> stand.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_118128\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118128\" class=\"size-full wp-image-118128\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Prowein-2025.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"554\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-118128\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image of ProWein 2025 fair. Furthermore, it allows them to <strong>assess the pulse of the wine industry<\/strong> in other destinations,&#8221; stated Pilar Amate, Minister for Economic Promotion and Local Development of the Consell de Mallorca. As a demonstration of the Consell\u2019s support for the wine sector, Amate explained that &#8220;this year we have managed to <strong>expand the exhibition space<\/strong> to accommodate more wineries.
