Of these, <strong>4,737 were telephone calls<\/strong>, representing a <strong>1.7% increase<\/strong> compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>This translates to an <strong>average of 13 calls per day<\/strong>, of which <strong>78.7% were related to gender-based violence<\/strong>, that is, around <strong>10 calls per day<\/strong>. More than half (<strong>52.7%<\/strong>) were made by the victims themselves, while <strong>23%<\/strong> were made by professionals.<\/p>\n<p>These figures were presented by <strong>the Minister for Families and Social Affairs, Catalina Cirer<\/strong>, and the <strong>director of IBDONA, Cati Salom<\/strong>, in the 2024 Service Report. This report includes information on the three services provided: <strong>specialised care and telephone support, face-to-face support, and specialised legal guidance<\/strong>. In this regard, during 2024, 728 follow-ups and 229 legal guidance requests were carried out, representing a 69% increase compared to 2023.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_118007\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118007\" class=\"wp-image-118007 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Catalina-Cirer-y-Cati-Salom-IBDONA.webp\" alt=\"Catalina Cirer and Cati Salom\" width=\"780\" height=\"573\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-118007\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The director of IBDONA, Cati Salom, and the Minister for Families and Social Affairs, Catalina Cirer. Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><strong>24-hour telephone support<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The new contract awarded in 2024 extended the service\u2019s operating hours, ensuring support is available <strong>24 hours a day, 365 days a year<\/strong>. Additionally, the direct support team increased from <strong>11 to 16 professionals<\/strong>, including <strong>a specialist in legal guidance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the origin of the calls:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>71%<\/strong> of people called <strong>900 178 989<\/strong>, IBDONA&#8217;s freephone number.<\/li>\n<li>The remaining calls were made to <strong>016 or 112<\/strong> in similar proportions.<\/li>\n<li>By island, <strong>Mallorca recorded 79% of the calls, Eivissa 10%, Menorca 5%, and Formentera 0.7%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The majority profile of those assisted was a <strong>woman aged between 31 and 40<\/strong>, representing <strong>17.4% of the calls where the caller\u2019s age was known<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the types of violence reported in the calls:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>92.4%<\/strong> were related to <strong>gender-based violence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5.4%<\/strong> involved <strong>sexual violence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>46.4%<\/strong> of victims suffered <strong>psychological violence<\/strong>, followed by <strong>physical violence (25.7%)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The months with the highest number of calls were <strong>May (10.3%), September, and July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, in 2024, there was <strong>an attempted femicide in Eivissa (July) and a femicide in Llucmajor (December)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Increase in face-to-face support for victims of gender-based violence<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Face-to-Face Support Service<\/strong> carried out <strong>616 support interventions<\/strong> in 2024, an increase of <strong>14.3%<\/strong> compared to 2023. The average was <strong>51 support interventions per month<\/strong>, and <strong>61.5% were requested less than 24 hours in advance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding territorial distribution:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mallorca<\/strong> accounted for <strong>60.5%<\/strong> of the support interventions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eivissa<\/strong>: <strong>26%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Menorca<\/strong>: <strong>11%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Formentera<\/strong>: <strong>2.4%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>91.2% of the support interventions<\/strong> were for victims of <strong>gender-based violence<\/strong>, while <strong>7%<\/strong> were for victims of sexual violence. Almost half of these interventions (<strong>46%<\/strong>) were conducted at <strong>courts specialised in gender-based violence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The profile of the women supported shows that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>38.6% were aged between 31 and 40<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>There was a <strong>rise in the 61 to 70 age group<\/strong>, with <strong>17 support cases in 2024<\/strong> (compared to 6 in 2023).<\/li>\n<li><strong>32.5% lived with their aggressor at the time of the intervention<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>30.5% had no financial income<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nearly 10% were in a situation of social exclusion or homelessness<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regarding reporting incidents, <strong>87.4% of the supported women had either filed a complaint or intended to do so<\/strong>, although <strong>20.5% later withdrew it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A free and accessible helpline<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>IBDONA&#8217;s helpline for victims of gender-based violence is <strong>900 178 989<\/strong>, a <strong>freephone service available 24\/7<\/strong>. Unlike the previous number with the 971 prefix, it now carries no cost for users.
