The Consell de Mallorca<\/strong> has taken a new step in the fight against illegal tourist activity on the island<\/strong>. The president, Lloren\u00e7 Galm\u00e9s<\/strong>, and the vice president of the Govern de les Illes Balears and Minister of Economy, Finance, and Innovation, Antoni Costa<\/strong>, have signed a collaboration agreement<\/strong> with the Ag\u00e8ncia Tribut\u00e0ria de les Illes Balears<\/strong> (ATIB), aimed at optimising the processing and collection of fines related to illegal activities, particularly unregulated tourist rentals.<\/p>\n

According to Galm\u00e9s, one of the main issues faced by the Consell’s Tourism Department was the high percentage of failed notifications<\/strong>, mainly due to errors in the communication addresses. Offenders took advantage of this situation to avoid penalties, prolonging the administrative process and, in many cases, evading payment.<\/p>\n

With the signing of this agreement, the Consell de Mallorca will benefit from the collaboration of the ATIB, which has more efficient technical and human resources<\/strong> to manage penalties in a more agile and effective<\/strong> way. The agency will be responsible for notifying offenders and collecting fines during the voluntary payment period, improving the efficiency of the process and ensuring that violators cannot escape their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

Faster notifications and a higher success rate<\/h3>\n

The new agreement establishes that the funds collected by the ATIB will be transferred to the Consell de Mallorca, allowing the island’s administration to be more efficient in its fight against illegal tourist rentals. Furthermore, the ATIB, with its expertise and resources, will ensure that notifications are much faster and have a significantly higher success rate.<\/p>\n

Galm\u00e9s emphasised the importance of this collaboration, highlighting that it will help “strengthen the fight against this illegal activity<\/strong>, which affects both citizens and the tourism sector that operates within the law.” Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism, Jos\u00e9 Marcial Rodr\u00edguez, who was also present at the signing, reiterated the Consell\u2019s commitment to eliminating “this type of offer that disrupts community life and destabilises the tourism market on the island, affecting all those who comply with the regulations.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
