The Mayor of Palma, Jaime Mart\u00ednez Llabr\u00e9s<\/strong>, has announced at the ITB tourism fair in Berlin the launch of a comprehensive action plan<\/strong> for the transformation of Platja de Palma<\/strong>, with an investment of more than 21 million euros<\/strong>. Among the most immediate measures, a security action plan<\/strong> stands out, which will involve a significant deployment of personnel and material resources for this season, as well as the enforcement of the new Civic Ordinance<\/strong><\/a> to improve coexistence between residents and tourists.<\/p>\n

This ambitious project also includes improvements in infrastructure, mobility, and sustainability<\/strong>, with the modernisation of the first-line pedestrian promenade<\/strong>, the creation of landscape corridors<\/strong>, and the transformation of Dino Golf into a large green space<\/strong>. Additionally, it plans the restoration of the natural environment in Es Carnatge<\/strong> and the re-naturalisation of Pla\u00e7a de las Maravillas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In terms of mobility<\/strong>, new parking areas<\/strong> will be developed, the BiciPalma network will be expanded<\/strong>, and connectivity will be improved with the future Palma-Llucmajor train line<\/strong>, which will include stops at key points<\/strong> in Platja de Palma. The area will also be equipped with new sports and cultural facilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enhancing quality<\/h3>\n

At a tourism level, the plan aims to modernise and enhance the quality<\/strong> of hotel establishments<\/strong> and complementary services. A 25% of tourist accommodation<\/strong> that was unable to undergo conversion at the time will now be allowed to upgrade its category, following the model applied to the remaining 75%.<\/p>\n

Mart\u00ednez Llabr\u00e9s has emphasised the need for close collaboration between the public sector, hoteliers, and businesses<\/strong> to reposition Platja de Palma as a leading tourist destination. He also expressed regret over the lack of support from the Spanish Government for his proposal to create a Commissioner for the Rehabilitation of Mature Tourist Areas<\/strong>, which would accelerate investment in the area.<\/p>\n
