Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"1137\">The Minister of Economy, Finance and Innovation, Antoni Costa, strongly criticised the lack of prior dialogue with the affected regions: &#8220;It is absolute disregard. They made the decision in advance in a <strong>negotiation with Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC)<\/strong> so that <strong>S\u00e1nchez could stay in power<\/strong>.&#8221; Costa insisted that the measure represents <strong>unfair treatment<\/strong> among regions, pointing out that &#8220;the Spanish government plans to approve a debt write-off of more than <strong>\u20ac2,000 per Catalan<\/strong>, while each Balearic citizen will have just <strong>\u20ac1,400<\/strong> written off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"1137\">Change of Creditor<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1139\" data-end=\"1459\">The Balearic government also questioned the <strong>real effectiveness of the measure<\/strong>, warning that it does not imply an actual debt cancellation but rather a <strong>change of creditor<\/strong>. &#8220;It is all a big deception because no debt is truly written off; instead, <strong>we will no longer owe it as citizens of the Balearic Islands but will owe it as citizens of Spain<\/strong>,&#8221; said Costa.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1790\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Furthermore, Costa explained that, according to the Ministry of Finance, the regions <strong>will not be allowed to allocate the supposed savings on interest to healthcare, education, or social services<\/strong>. &#8220;That is why we insist: what the Balearic Islands need is a <strong>new financing system<\/strong>, because the current one has been expired since <strong>2014<\/strong>,&#8221; concluded the minister.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Government of the Balearic Islands yesterday described as &#8220;disregard&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/el-govern-califica-de-ninguneo-la-desigualdad-en-la-condonacion-de-la-deuda-entre-comunidades\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":117667,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1515,1516],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-117671","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy-and-tourism","category-politics"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
