These restrictions apply to <strong>European seabass, gilthead seabream, common dentex, and all species of grouper<\/strong>. Grau, highlighted that the main objective of this regulation is to ensure the <strong>sustainability of marine resources<\/strong> through the active participation of the sector. &#8220;This measure has been fully agreed upon with the fishing community, which had requested to be involved in the decision-making process that directly affects them,&#8221; Grau stated.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"915\">Established Quotas for Recreational Fishing in the Balearic Islands<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"1242\">The daily quotas set vary depending on the type of fishing. In individual fishing, which includes spearfishing, shore fishing, or boat fishing, limits apply per person. In the case of boat fishing, the restrictions affect the total number of catches allowed per boat, regardless of the number of occupants.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1284\">The daily quotas are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1626\">\n<li data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1366\"><strong data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1321\">European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax)<\/strong>: 1 specimen per person and per boat.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1367\" data-end=\"1442\"><strong data-start=\"1369\" data-end=\"1395\">Gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata)<\/strong>: 2 specimens per person and per boat.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1520\"><strong data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1471\">Common dentex (Dentex dentex)<\/strong>: 2 specimens per person and 3 per boat.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1626\"><strong data-start=\"1523\" data-end=\"1581\">Groupers (Epinephelus spp.) and Mottled grouper (Mycteroperca rubra)<\/strong>: 1 specimen per person and per boat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1730\">For example, on a boat with seven people, only three common dentex in total may be caught.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1732\" data-end=\"1758\">Future Regulations<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"2030\">Grau does not rule out the possibility of establishing <strong>new quotas or modifying existing ones<\/strong> in the future, depending on agreements within the Co-management Commission for Recreational Marine Fishing. Species such as the <strong>scorpionfish<\/strong> could be subject to regulation in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"2030\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-117175 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lubina-e1739457602867.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lubina-e1739457602867-768x512.webp 768w, https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lubina-e1739457602867.webp 780w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2032\" data-end=\"2364\">Recreational fishing in the Balearic Islands is an activity with <strong>thousands of enthusiasts<\/strong>, generating a significant economic impact and fostering a connection with nature. According to Grau, &#8220;most people engaged in recreational fishing are concerned about the conservation and health of marine resources, which is why they want to contribute to preserving marine ecosystems.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2366\" data-end=\"2419\">The Co-management Commission for Recreational Fishing<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2421\" data-end=\"2788\" data-is-last-node=\"\">This public participation body, created in 2024, includes representatives from the fishing sector and the administration, with the aim of improving the management and sustainability of recreational fishing in the Balearic Islands.
