By November, total spending had reached <strong>\u20ac22,084.7 million<\/strong>, representing a <strong>12.3% year-on-year increase<\/strong>, according to the <em>Economic Momentum of the Illes Balears<\/em> report published by the Directorate General of Economy and Statistics.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_116902\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-116902\" class=\"size-full wp-image-116902\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Turistas.-Foto-Teresa-Ayuga.webp\" alt=\"Tourists visiting Palma Cathedral\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-116902\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tourists visiting Palma Cathedral. Photo: Teresa Ayuga.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Average spending per tourist has also increased, reaching <strong>\u20ac1,198 per person (+7%)<\/strong>, while daily expenditure has risen to <strong>\u20ac188, a 7.7% increase<\/strong> compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, tourist arrivals in November increased by <strong>18.5%<\/strong> compared to the previous year, with <strong>117.6 million overnight stays<\/strong>, representing a rise of <strong>4.3%<\/strong>. The number of air passengers arriving on the islands also grew by <strong>5.6%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Other economic indicators in Balears<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>GDP and Consumption<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Balearic consumption continues to drive GDP growth.<\/li>\n<li>Foreign investment fell by <strong>54%<\/strong> up to the third quarter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Construction<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase in residential building.<\/li>\n<li>Free-market housing: <strong>+12.3% started<\/strong> and <strong>+4.2% completed<\/strong> in the third quarter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Industry<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Industrial production fell by <strong>2.6%<\/strong> (in line with the national decline of <strong>-3.4%<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Only consumer goods showed positive growth in November.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Labour Market<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Record-breaking employment figures in December with <strong>475,387 registered workers (+3.4%)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The service sector, accounting for <strong>80%<\/strong> of registered workers, led growth with a <strong>3.8%<\/strong> increase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prices and Inflation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>December CPI: <strong>+3.4%<\/strong> in Balears, above the national average (<strong>+2.8%<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Only the Basque Country recorded a higher rate (<strong>+3.6%<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Core inflation in Balears: <strong>+3.2%<\/strong> (compared to <strong>2.6%<\/strong> in Spain).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Balears continues to experience strong tourism growth and record-breaking employment levels, although it faces challenges in foreign investment and inflation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tourism spending in the Balearic Islands continues to rise, consolidating <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/el-gasto-turistico-en-balears-crece-un-123-hasta-noviembre-y-supera-los-22-000-millones-de-euros\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":116903,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1515],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-116910","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy-and-tourism"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
