In addition, individual <strong>fines of \u20ac80,000<\/strong> have been issued to each property, amounting to a total of <strong>\u20ac800,000 in penalties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The action follows a <strong>thorough administrative procedure<\/strong> carried out by the sanctions division of the Department of Tourism, which identified the <strong>lack of a licence<\/strong> in all the affected properties. The Tourism Councillor, <strong>Jos\u00e9 Marcial Rodr\u00edguez D\u00edaz<\/strong>, expressed his satisfaction with the measure and praised the work of the inspection and sanctions service. &#8220;The illegal offer is <strong>unfair competition<\/strong> that seriously harms those who operate legally on our island and represents a <strong>problem for community relations<\/strong>. We are committed to fighting and <strong>eradicating it<\/strong>,&#8221; Rodr\u00edguez stated.<\/p>\n<p>The councillor emphasised that these actions result from a rigorous process carried out within the legally established deadlines. Moving forward, the <strong>Inspection Department<\/strong> will monitor to ensure that the cessation of activity is enforced. In case of non-compliance, the Department of Tourism is prepared to refer the matter to the Public Prosecutor&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<h3>Higher fines to deter illegal activity<\/h3>\n<p>The fines for illegal tourist rentals in Mallorca currently stand at \u20ac80,000 per property, compared to the <strong>previous minimum fine of \u20ac40,001<\/strong>. The legislation allows for a range of penalties that can reach up to <strong>\u20ac400,000<\/strong>. This increase aims to <strong>deter offenders<\/strong> and protect both residents and the legal security of the regulated tourist market.
