‘Paysage Mir\u00f3’ will be the highlight exhibition of 2025 at the Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca<\/strong> will host \u2018Paysage Mir\u00f3. De les trobades i de l\u2019atzar en Mir\u00f3\u2019<\/strong>, the major exhibition of 2025<\/strong>, as part of an ambitious collaborative project<\/strong> with the Government of the Balearic Islands<\/strong> and Palma City Council<\/strong>. \u2018Paysage Mir\u00f3\u2019 will be presented simultaneously at the Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca, the Llonja<\/strong>, the Es Baluard Museum<\/strong>, and the Casal Solleric<\/strong>. This jointly curated exhibition will feature works from the Fundaci\u00f3’s collection alongside renowned pieces from institutions such as the Reina Sofia Museum<\/strong>, the Fundaci\u00f3 Joan Mir\u00f3 in Barcelona<\/strong>, and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art<\/strong> (MACBA). Together, these venues will present four exhibitions with distinct personalities that form a cohesive and robust project<\/strong>, according to the Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca.<\/p>\n

The exhibition focuses on the importance of chance encounters and fortuitous coincidences<\/strong> in Joan Mir\u00f3\u2019s work. Throughout his career, the artist drew inspiration from a wide range of influences, including relationships with other great creators such as Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, and Alexander Calder<\/strong>, as well as connections with nature, poetry, music, and locations like Montroig, Paris, Normandy, and Mallorca<\/strong>. \u2018Paysage Mir\u00f3\u2019 will explore how these influences enriched his art<\/strong>, showcasing key pieces not only by Mir\u00f3 but also by artists who were his contemporaries and inspirations, including Andr\u00e9 Masson, Paul Klee, and Andr\u00e9 Breton<\/strong>, alongside the aforementioned Picasso, Duchamp, and Calder.<\/p>\n

The Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca closes 2024 with a 24.5% increase in visitors<\/h3>\n

The year 2024<\/strong> ended with a significant increase in attendance at the Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca’s exhibitions and cultural activities. A total of 76,243 visitors<\/strong> represented a 24.5% rise<\/strong> compared to 2023. The months of April, August, and October<\/strong> saw the highest turnout, reflecting sustained interest in the centre\u2019s cultural offerings. Additionally, there was a marked growth in local visitors<\/strong>, particularly from September to December<\/strong>, along with a strong international reach<\/strong>, attracting audiences from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Germany<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

First deputy mayor and culture councillor Javier Bonet<\/strong> highlighted the “great national and international prominence” of the Fundaci\u00f3, emphasising its key role in achieving Palma\u2019s goal of becoming the cultural capital in 2031<\/strong>. He also praised the efforts of the new director, Ant\u00f2nia Maria Perell\u00f3<\/strong>, and her team, who took on the challenge of revitalising the institution since May. “Our objective is to reaffirm the Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3 Mallorca\u2019s status as the nerve centre of cultural production and dissemination in Palma<\/strong>, focusing on Joan Mir\u00f3<\/strong> as a key figure<\/strong> in the city where he created much of his universal oeuvre<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n
