Taking place from <strong>Sunday, 1st December to Sunday, 8th December<\/strong>, the event combines tradition, culture, and entertainment, with a special highlight on the <strong>preparation and sharing of traditional doughnuts (bu\u00f1uelos) with sweet wine (mistela)<\/strong>, a defining hallmark of these celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>The pinnacle of the Festes de Santa B\u00e0rbara 2024 is on <strong>4th December<\/strong>, the feast day of Santa B\u00e0rbara. Following the <strong>Solemn Mass<\/strong>, presided over by the Bishop of Mallorca, the community gathers in Pla\u00e7a Major to enjoy the <strong>homemade doughnuts with mistela<\/strong>. This cherished tradition reinforces the familial and welcoming spirit of the event. It is accompanied by the <strong>dance of the Cavallets and the Geganta B\u00e0rbara<\/strong>, enlivened by the traditional sounds of the xeremiers, creating a heartfelt homage to Vilafranca\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<h2>Culture, Art, Gastronomy, and Music<\/h2>\n<p>The festivities kick off on <strong>1st December<\/strong> with the <strong>Santa B\u00e0rbara Market<\/strong>, where Pla\u00e7a Major comes alive with stalls of artisanal products, craft workshops, and musical performances, such as <strong>Vilatukada<\/strong>. There will also be an <strong>Open Doors Day<\/strong> at the renovated Town Hall, featuring visits to the artisanal nativity scene created by Ant\u00f2nia Domenge. This nativity scene will also be part of the <strong>Nativity Route<\/strong>, which runs from 6th December to 6th January.<\/p>\n<p>The programme features traditional activities such as the <strong>Sopar dels Barbuts<\/strong> (Dinner of the Bearded Men), the <strong>Camillada<\/strong> with music and hot chocolate, and the <strong>Cursa des Tro<\/strong>, a popular running race with 14km and 8km options.
