The main complaints<\/strong> from guests<\/strong> staying in holiday rentals in Mallorca<\/strong> are, in order of importance, bad weather<\/strong>, pet restrictions<\/strong>, insufficient parking<\/strong>, noise<\/strong>, and value for money<\/strong>. These findings come from an analysis<\/strong> conducted by the holiday rental platform Holidu<\/strong><\/a>, based on data and surveys highlighting the current challenges in the sector.<\/p>\n

Following the summer season<\/strong>, holiday rental property owners in Mallorca report a positive outlook<\/strong>. According to Holidu, 84%<\/strong> of hosts are satisfied with summer bookings, and 33%<\/strong> expect an increase in future reservations. Although 98%<\/strong> of Mallorcan property owners state they mostly receive positive reviews, there is still room for improvement in areas like guest experience and neighbourly coexistence. The analysis also highlights the sector\u2019s optimism<\/strong> for the autumn\/winter season<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Top 5 complaints from guests of holiday rentals in Mallorca<\/h2>\n

1. Bad weather<\/h3>\n

Although Mallorca is known for its warm and sunny climate, unexpected changes, such as rain, can frustrate guests. In response, some hosts provide alternatives like cultural visits or gastronomic experiences to enhance guests’ stay during grey days.<\/p>\n

2. Pet restrictions<\/h3>\n

Many travellers wish to bring their pets on holiday, but limitations in certain accommodations or unclear policies can cause dissatisfaction. While Spain\u2019s “pet-friendly” options are increasing, they still lag behind Nordic countries. Clear communication from property owners regarding pet policies is essential.<\/p>\n

3. Insufficient parking<\/h3>\n

The lack of parking spaces or difficult access is a common issue, particularly in high-demand tourist areas. Hosts should specify if parking is available and, if not, provide information on nearby alternatives to avoid unpleasant surprises for guests.<\/p>\n

4. Noise<\/h3>\n

External noise, especially in tourist hotspots or near entertainment areas, can disrupt guests\u2019 tranquillity. Although beyond the host’s control, measures such as soundproof windows, earplugs, and clear noise policies can help improve the guest experience.<\/p>\n

5. Value for money<\/h3>\n

Guests expect the cost of their stay to align with the quality of facilities and services. To prevent negative perceptions, property owners focus on accurate descriptions, professional photos, and maintaining or exceeding standards to meet expectations.<\/p>\n

Methodology<\/h2>\n

The Holidu study was conducted between 3 and 17 September 2024, involving 801 holiday rental property owners in Spain<\/strong>, including 114 in Mallorca<\/strong>.
