By island, <strong>Mallorca<\/strong> leads with <strong>12,716 kg<\/strong> of waste collected, followed by <strong>Menorca<\/strong> with <strong>8,275.60 kg<\/strong>, <strong>Ibiza<\/strong> with <strong>5,520.33 kg<\/strong>, and <strong>Formentera with 1,396.55 kg<\/strong>. This campaign, conducted by the <strong>Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle<\/strong> in collaboration with <strong>PortsIB<\/strong>, began in <strong>May<\/strong> \u2014 one month earlier than usual \u2014 and concluded last <strong>September<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_110489\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-110489\" class=\"size-full wp-image-110489\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/residuos-litoral-norte-mallorca-2024-1.webp\" alt=\"Map showing waste removal from the northern coast of Mallorca, 2024.\" width=\"780\" height=\"518\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-110489\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Map of waste removal from the northern coast of Mallorca. Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Data by municipality<\/h3>\n<p>In Mallorca, waste collection by municipality revealed that <strong>Felanitx<\/strong> leads with <strong>1,825.38 kg<\/strong>, followed by <strong>Palma<\/strong> with <strong>1,103.30 kg<\/strong> and <strong>Manacor<\/strong> with <strong>1,093.95 kg<\/strong>. <strong>Alc\u00fadia and Santany\u00ed<\/strong> also recorded significant amounts, with <strong>961.35 kg and 859.78 kg<\/strong> collected, respectively. In <strong>Menorca<\/strong>, the collection reached <strong>2,183.65 kg in Ciutadella<\/strong> and <strong>1,979.65 kg in Ma\u00f3<\/strong>, while <strong>Es Mercadal<\/strong> contributed <strong>1,720.40 kg<\/strong>. In <strong>Ibiza<\/strong>, <strong>Sant Josep<\/strong> removed <strong>1,982.20 kg<\/strong>, and <strong>Sant Antoni<\/strong> collected <strong>1,456.48 kg<\/strong>. Photo: CAIB.<\/p>\n<h3>Types of waste removed<\/h3>\n<p>Among the waste removed, <strong>wood<\/strong> was the most notable material, representing <strong>42.05%<\/strong> of the total. <strong>Plastic<\/strong> ranked second at <strong>41.06%<\/strong>, followed by <strong>vegetation<\/strong> at <strong>6.74%<\/strong>, other materials at 6.58%, organic matter at 3.10%, and oils at 0.47%. Photo: CAIB.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to routine cleaning tasks, crews responded to <strong>24 alerts<\/strong> involving waste collection in specific coves. Of these alerts, 15 came from the 112 emergency service and Maritime Rescue, while the remaining 9 were issued by institutions and individuals, often related to fuel spills or assistance requests.
