The security report for Calvi\u00e0<\/strong> during the 2024 season highlights a 12.3% reduction<\/strong> in recorded crimes compared to the previous year, translating to 556 criminal cases<\/strong> and 283 arrests<\/strong> between 1 April and 30 September. The Local Police<\/strong> have made significant efforts in road safety<\/strong> and intensified their fight against drug trafficking<\/strong> and illegal street vending<\/strong>, improving the overall sense of security in the municipality.<\/p>\n

Decrease in crimes and increase in arrests<\/h3>\n

During this period, a total of 556 crimes<\/strong> were recorded, a significant decrease compared to the 634 crimes<\/strong> committed in 2023. Of the 283 people arrested<\/strong>, 136<\/strong> are Spanish nationals, while 147<\/strong> are of foreign origin.<\/p>\n

The most frequent crimes were related to road safety<\/strong>, with 166 reports<\/strong>, of which 102<\/strong> were for drunk driving<\/strong> and 6<\/strong> for drug-related offences<\/strong>. Additionally, 11 vehicle thefts<\/strong> were reported.<\/p>\n

\"Policia<\/p>\n

Focus on the fight against drug trafficking<\/h3>\n

The main offence leading to arrests was drug trafficking<\/strong>, with 75 individuals<\/strong> apprehended. Although there was a slight decrease in the number of arrests compared to 99<\/strong> in 2023, drug trafficking<\/strong> remains a significant challenge in the municipality.<\/p>\n

Reduction in thefts and robberies<\/h3>\n

There were 69 reports of thefts and robberies<\/strong>, mostly from commercial establishments and beaches<\/strong>, resulting in the arrest of 22 individuals<\/strong>. This figure represents a 65% reduction<\/strong> compared to 2023, when 64 arrests<\/strong> were made. The drop is even more pronounced when compared to the 108 arrests<\/strong> in 2022.<\/p>\n

Sanctions and control of illegal activities<\/h3>\n

The Local Police of Calvi\u00e0<\/strong> have also stepped up their efforts in issuing fines<\/strong>, with a total of 1,911 fines<\/strong> issued during the same period. Illegal street vending resulted in 892 fines<\/strong>, along with the seizure of counterfeit goods. On the other hand, fines for balconing<\/strong> have significantly decreased, from 34 in 2022<\/strong> to just 7 in 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Other reasons for fines include breaching closing times<\/strong>, with 28 establishments<\/strong> fined, and noise disturbances<\/strong>, resulting in 77 fines<\/strong>. Additionally, there were fines for drinking alcohol in public places<\/strong> (42) and unauthorised alcohol advertising<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Decrease in phone requests<\/h3>\n

For the first time in three years, there has been a decrease<\/strong> in the number of phone requests<\/strong> to 112\/092. Between January and September 2024, 15,130 requests<\/strong> were recorded, a figure lower than in previous years. High-priority alerts<\/strong>, which include emergencies such as fights, fires<\/strong>, and assaults<\/strong>, totalled 5,228<\/strong>, remaining at similar levels to 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
