The Casal Solleric in Palma is hosting the exhibition “Quino en la m\u00fasica<\/a>“<\/em> from 24 October 2024, a tribute to the iconic Argentine cartoonist Joaqu\u00edn Salvador Lavado Tej\u00f3n, better known as Quino. The exhibition coincides with the 70th anniversary of the publication of his first comic strip<\/strong> and the 60th anniversary of the creation of Mafalda<\/strong>, his most famous character.<\/p>\n

A journey through Quino’s legacy<\/h3>\n

The exhibition, which will run until 8 January 2025<\/strong>, will feature over 100 original pieces<\/strong> by Quino, curated by Judith Gociol<\/strong> and Guillermo Lavado<\/strong>, the artist’s nephew and a musician. “Quino en la m\u00fasica”<\/em> offers a unique exploration of one of the cartoonist’s great passions: music<\/strong>. The exhibition delves into his fascination with this art form, reflected in his work, along with the comedy and reflections that Quino captured in his drawings throughout his career.<\/p>\n

In addition to the iconic Mafalda, this exhibition explores other worlds created by Quino, showcasing how music was always a recurring theme in his works.<\/p>\n

Highlight event of the C\u00f2mic Nostrum Festival<\/h3>\n

“Quino en la m\u00fasica”<\/em> is part of the International Comic Festival of Mallorca<\/strong><\/a>, C\u00f2mic Nostrum<\/em>, and is one of the main events of the festival, which runs from 24 to 28 October. The Casal Solleric<\/strong><\/a> will be the venue for this exhibition, while other municipal spaces, such as Can Balaguer<\/strong><\/a>, will host talks, masterclasses, and workshops related to comics.<\/p>\n

Guided tour with Quino’s nephews<\/h3>\n

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be the guided tour<\/strong> on Saturday, 26 October at 11:00 am<\/strong>, led by Guillermo Lavado<\/strong> and Diego Lavado<\/strong>, Quino’s nephews. During this event, visitors will get an in-depth look at the stories behind the comic strips and the creative process of the famous author.<\/p>\n

A project that supports culture in Palma<\/h3>\n

The exhibition has been made possible thanks to the Ajuntament de Palma<\/strong>‘s commitment to the International Comic Festival, to which it has allocated over \u20ac30,000<\/strong>, double the amount contributed in 2023. This support is not only focused on “Quino en la m\u00fasica”<\/em>, but also on organising drawing workshops, guided tours, and other educational activities for the public.<\/p>\n
