The Consell de Mallorca<\/strong> has launched the new Park and Ride Plan<\/strong>, which will offer 7,171 parking spaces<\/strong> distributed across 43 parking areas<\/strong>. These car parks will be strategically located near public transport stations. The plan involves an investment of 30.9 million euros<\/strong> and aims to improve mobility in Mallorca<\/strong> and promote the use of public transport<\/strong>. This will allow citizens to leave their vehicles in designated areas and continue their journey by bus or train, helping to reduce traffic congestion.<\/p>\n

Increase in spaces and promotion of public transport<\/h3>\n

The Conseller for Territory, Mobility and Infrastructure, Fernando Rubio<\/strong>, highlighted the importance of this plan to facilitate access to public transport<\/strong>. In total, 43 car parks<\/strong> have been planned, of which 16 will be refurbished<\/strong> and 27 newly created<\/strong>. Additionally, 1,230 extra spaces<\/strong> have been added compared to the previous plan, with new parking areas in Alc\u00fadia, Manacor, Santa Maria, Santany\u00ed-Cala Llombards, and S\u00f3ller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These parking areas, located near bus and train stations, will also include electric vehicle charging points<\/strong><\/a>, facilitating a more sustainable mobility<\/strong>. In this way, the Consell remains committed to using clean and alternative energy to reduce the carbon footprint on the island.<\/p>\n

A plan adjusted and agreed with local councils<\/h3>\n

This new Park and Ride Plan in Mallorca<\/strong> has been revised and expanded compared to the one approved in the previous legislature. Previously, the plan did not give specific notice to those affected by land expropriations, necessitating adjustments to the project. Additionally, the Consell has taken the opportunity to include five new car parks<\/strong> and alter the location of four others.<\/p>\n

The project has been agreed with the 43 local councils<\/strong> in Mallorca that will host these parking areas in their municipalities. This ensures that the chosen locations are the most suitable for their citizens, promoting the efficient use of public transport and improving mobility.<\/p>\n

A key investment for the future of mobility in Mallorca<\/h3>\n

The investment for this project has increased from 25.3 million to 30.9 million euros<\/strong>. This funding will not only improve connections between municipalities and key public transport stations, but it will also ease traffic in the most crowded areas, promoting a more efficient use of public transport.
