The new train to Llucmajor is the major announcement in the general policy debate. The President of the Govern de les Illes Balears, Marga Prohens<\/strong>, has revealed one of the most anticipated measures for mobility in Mallorca: the new train connecting Palma with Llucmajor<\/strong>. This announcement was made during her speech in the general policy debate, where she emphasised the importance of improving public transport infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Route of the new train to Llucmajor<\/h3>\n

The Llucmajor train project, which is expected to benefit 7.5 million users<\/strong> annually, will begin its processing this October<\/strong>. The route will connect Palma with several key points, such as Son Ll\u00e0tzer Hospital<\/strong>, the future Palma fairground<\/strong>, Son Sant Joan Airport<\/strong>, and a park-and-ride facility in Son Oms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Plan for public transport in the Balearic Islands<\/h3>\n

Additionally, Prohens emphasised that this is just the start of an ambitious plan for public transport in the Balearic Islands, reaffirming that her government will not abandon other key projects. She also highlighted that, while negotiating road agreements with the State, funds will be transferred to the island councils for projects such as the second Palma ring road<\/strong>, the Menorca main road<\/strong>, and the redevelopment of the E-10 in Ibiza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Increase in spending cap<\/h3>\n

The President of the Govern de les Illes Balears also announced a \u20ac200 million increase in the spending cap<\/strong> for the community’s 2025 budget.
