In response, she unveiled an ambitious <strong>action plan<\/strong> with concrete measures to increase housing availability, particularly aimed at residents of the Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-109776 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Prohens.webp\" alt=\"Prohens in the general policy debate\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Housing Emergency Decree<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The action plan includes the implementation of a <strong>Housing Emergency Decree<\/strong>, which introduces various measures to <strong>increase the supply of housing<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Building upwards<\/strong>: allows for the construction of taller buildings to maximise land use.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Horizontal division<\/strong>: facilitates the division of large homes into smaller units suitable for affordable rental.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conversion of commercial premises<\/strong>: vacant commercial spaces will be adapted into residential properties.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/programa-construir-para-alquilar-mallorca\/\">Build to Rent<\/a>&#8221; programme<\/strong>: promotes the construction of new homes dedicated exclusively to social housing rentals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe will not hesitate to continue taking positive measures for the citizens. The way to lower housing prices is to bring more homes to the market, making use of existing properties, but also optimising available land for new homes,\u201d Prohens added.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. Public housing developments to address the housing crisis<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>IBAVI (Balearic Housing Institute)<\/strong> will build new public housing developments aimed at <strong>social rentals and price-capped housing<\/strong>, specifically for Balearic residents.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Safe Rent Programme<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This programme aims to provide <strong>stable and secure rentals<\/strong> for both landlords and tenants, ensuring that more people can access housing at affordable rental rates.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4. Over 7,000 homes on the market<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With these initiatives, the Govern expects to release <strong>over 7,000 homes<\/strong> for social rental and regulated pricing, which will increase supply and help reduce rental prices.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5.
