This unique festival, held at the iconic s\u2019Escorxador and its new venue, the Estudi General Lul\u00b7li\u00e0, continues to establish itself as an international benchmark. With its <em>slow<\/em> approach, it invites the public to enjoy films with time, reflection, and depth.<\/p>\n<h2>Programming and Premieres at MajorDocs 2024<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_109495\" style=\"width: 1610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-109495\" class=\"size-full wp-image-109495\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/majordocs-2024-corto-Madre-Nuestra.webp\" alt=\"majordocs 2024 corto Madre Nuestra\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-109495\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Short film Madre Nuestra by David Paredes.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This year, MajorDocs will screen eight documentaries that tackle social, political, and cultural issues from innovative perspectives. Among them are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Apolonia Apolonia<\/strong> (Denmark) by Lea Glob \u2013 National premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Dependents<\/strong> (Canada) by Sof\u00eda Brockenshire \u2013 National premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knit\u2019s Island<\/strong> (France) by Quentin L\u2019helgoualc\u2019h, Ekiem Barbier, and Guilhem Causse \u2013 Balearic premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A los libros y a las mujeres canto<\/strong> (Spain) by Maria Elorza \u2013 Balearic premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>La llum cau vertical<\/strong> (Spain) by Efthymia Zymvragaki \u2013 Balearic premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weightless<\/strong> (Netherlands) by Marta Hryniuk and Nick Thomas \u2013 International premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Puerto Deseado<\/strong> (Argentina) by Juan Bugar\u00edn \u2013 National premiere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Al Djanat<\/strong> (France, Burkina Faso) by Chlo\u00e9 A\u00efcha Boro \u2013 National premiere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The fifth edition will open with the screening of &#8220;Once I Entered a Garden,&#8221; by the renowned Israeli documentary filmmaker Avi Mograbi, who will also participate in a post-screening discussion. Additionally, filmmaker Javier Garc\u00eda Ler\u00edn will premiere his new short film during the opening.<\/p>\n<h2>Editing as Writing: Central Theme of the Professional Sessions<\/h2>\n<p>This year, MajorDocs PRO, the festival\u2019s professional sessions, will focus on &#8220;Editing as Writing,&#8221; with prominent experts like editor Sylvie Gadmer offering talks and discussions.<\/p>\n<p>MajorDocs stands out as the first <em>slow<\/em> documentary film festival in Mallorca, offering a more reflective and measured experience where the audience can engage in direct dialogue with the filmmakers. The program also includes MajorDocs EDUCA, designed to introduce students to cinema as art and culture. The event is a project of Mosaic and El Obrador, supported by the Consell de Mallorca, ICAA, and sponsored by INNSiDE Palma Center and Fundaci\u00f3n Mallorca Turisme.<\/p>\n<p>This festival not only positions Mallorca as a film set but also as a place where cinema becomes a platform for debate and reflection.
