The European Mobility Week<\/strong> 2024 will take place in Palma from 16 to 22 September<\/strong>, with a wide programme of activities aimed at promoting sustainable mobility. This year\u2019s event is presented under the theme “Shared Public Space”<\/strong>, and places special emphasis on family participation, accessibility, and innovation in public transport.<\/p>\n

Highlights of European Mobility Week in Palma<\/h2>\n

Among the new features this year, for the first time, you will be able to visit the new Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) trains<\/strong> on 19, 20 and 21 September<\/strong> at Palma\u2019s Intermodal Station. In addition, there will be guided tours<\/strong> to learn about the internal workings of the TIB<\/strong>, allowing both adults and children to discover how the rail service in Mallorca is controlled.<\/p>\n

Mobility Day: An event for the whole family<\/h2>\n

On Saturday 21 September<\/strong>, Pla\u00e7a Mercat and Pla\u00e7a Rei Joan Carles I<\/strong> will host the Mobility Day<\/strong>, a day filled with fun and educational activities for all ages, such as music, games, and workshops related to sustainable mobility. During this day, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Mallorca\u2019s interurban public transport network, with the option to obtain the Intermodal Card<\/strong> on the spot.<\/p>\n

Technical seminars and public transport awards<\/h2>\n

The programme also includes technical seminars on sustainable mobility<\/strong>, featuring experts such as the director of EMT Madrid, Alfonso S\u00e1nchez. In addition, on Thursday 19 September<\/strong>, at Pla\u00e7a Par\u00eds<\/strong>, the Public Transport Loyalty Awards<\/strong> will be presented, recognising the most frequent public transport users over the past year.<\/p>\n

Park(ing) Day and other activities<\/h2>\n

On Friday 20 September<\/strong>, Park(ing) Day<\/strong> will transform several streets and squares in Palma into creative and alternative spaces, promoting innovative uses of public space. This year has seen a record number of participants with 25 registrations<\/strong>, surpassing previous years’ figures. In addition, the popular radio programme Font de Misteris<\/strong> will celebrate its tenth anniversary<\/strong>, once again as part of European Mobility Week.<\/p>\n

Competitions and workshops<\/h2>\n

This year, the TIB<\/strong> is organising several competitions, including the “TIBmetratges” short film competition<\/strong>, inviting participants to tell stories while travelling on public transport. There will also be a children’s drawing competition<\/strong> and a photography competition<\/strong> aimed at young people and social media users to share images on sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n

A commitment to sustainability<\/h2>\n

This annual event, organised by the Government of the Balearic Islands<\/strong> in collaboration with the Palma City Council<\/strong>, aims to promote sustainable, accessible, and environmentally friendly modes of transport. In addition to the activities mentioned, healthy routes, guided tours, workshops, and technical seminars focused on transport electrification have been planned.<\/p>\n
