\nThe Emergency System of the Balearic Islands 112 (SEIB112) has managed a total of 416 incidents in the archipelago due to the storm that arrived last Wednesday. Menorca has been the most affected island in the later hours of the storm, with Es Mercadal and Alaior being the municipalities with the highest number of incidents.<\/p>\n
By island, 225 incidents have been recorded in Mallorca, 145 in Menorca, 24 in Ibiza, and 22 in Formentera. The most affected areas as of yesterday afternoon have been Es Mercadal (25), Alaior (20), Manacor (17), and Palma (13). Despite the high number of incidents, none have been particularly serious. However, the intensity of the rains in Menorca has increased the risk of flooding, which has led to a change in the operational status of the INUNBAL plan on the island, from SO-1 to SO-2. This change allows the Government of the Balearic Islands to deploy all necessary operational structures to manage the emergency. Most incidents have been due to flooding of buildings (52) and public roads (34).
\nAmong the notable interventions are those already resolved at the elderly care homes in Es Mercadal and Alaior, which suffered flooding due to the intense rain. Additionally, the road from Campos to Col\u00f2nia de Sant Jordi has had to be temporarily closed.<\/p>\n
Regarding public transport, the rains have caused flooding and issues at several points on the railway line, initially causing delays and later forcing the suspension of the train service between Petra and Manacor throughout the afternoon. As an alternative, a bus service has been set up from 15:24 to cover the suspended route.
\nAs a precaution, a train stopped around 13:00 on a section just outside Petra heading towards Manacor after problems were detected on the track due to the flood, which had washed away a section of ballast. In coordination with SFM, the Balearic Islands Emergency Service 112, and the Mallorca Fire Brigade, the 29 passengers were evacuated and safely transferred by a rescue train to Petra station. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Currently, most of the incidents are resolved and as of this Friday morning, there are 19 active incidents remaining. Regarding the roads closed in Mallorca due to flooding or rockfalls and fallen trees, the Consell de Mallorca has reported that the Ma-2203 (Cala Sant Vicen\u00e7) remains closed. Additionally, this morning a rock that had fallen on the Ma-2140 (Sa Calobra) was removed and the Ma-3220 (Sant Joan) was cleared.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
