The 22 libraries<\/strong> of Palma have recorded increases<\/strong> in both the volume of loans<\/strong> and the number of new users<\/strong> over the first seven months<\/strong> of this year compared to the same period in 2023<\/strong>. Specifically, data from the Culture Department confirms that from January to July 2024, a total of 65,188 loans<\/strong> were recorded in municipal libraries, representing an increase of 17.27 per cent<\/strong> compared to the previous year, when the number of loans reached 55,586<\/strong>. In addition, 2,146 new cards<\/strong> were issued in the last seven months.<\/p>\n

The Josep Maria Llompart Library in s\u2019Escorxador<\/strong>, with 10,492<\/strong> loans, and the Pere Garau Library<\/strong>, with 9,626<\/strong>, are leading<\/strong> in terms of the number of loans, with increases of 14.25%<\/strong> and 19.41%<\/strong>, respectively. However, it is the Sa Indioteria Library<\/strong>, with 3,505<\/strong> loans, that has experienced the highest percentage increase in these first seven months compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

“Intense and excellent” work by the libraries of Palma<\/h2>\n

The Deputy Mayor for Culture, Javier Bonet<\/strong>, has assessed these figures, attributing them “to the intense and excellent work<\/strong> being carried out by the teams<\/strong> in the municipal libraries, as evidenced by the significant increase<\/strong> in the number of users and new cards.”<\/p>\n

Bonet added that “for the City Council, it is essential to continue working on the improvement of the public library network<\/strong>, especially in such emblematic<\/strong> libraries as Cort, where the increase in users has far exceeded the average increase in the rest of the libraries thanks to the effort and dedication shown over these seven months, so we will continue in this line of improvement and strengthening of the libraries.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
