In commemoration of World Ocean Day 2024<\/strong> on June 8<\/strong>, Palma Aquarium<\/strong><\/a> has organized a series of special activities<\/strong> from June 6 to 9<\/strong> to highlight the importance of protecting the oceans<\/strong>. Under the theme “World Ocean Day: Awakening New Depths”<\/strong>, the aquarium will offer workshops, games, and educational talks<\/strong> for all ages<\/strong>, focusing on marine conservation<\/strong> and the impact of climate change<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

June 8, World Ocean Day, is a key date<\/strong> to reflect on the need to conserve and protect the oceans<\/strong>, which cover more than 70% of the planet’s surface<\/strong> and are vital for regulating the climate and providing essential resources. However, they face serious threats<\/strong> such as invasive species<\/strong>, rising sea levels<\/strong>, changes in water temperature<\/strong>, and loss of marine biodiversity<\/strong>, according to Palma Aquarium.<\/p>\n

World Ocean Day 2024 Activities at Palma Aquarium<\/h2>\n

Palma Aquarium has organized a special program<\/strong> from June 6 to 9 for World Ocean Day 2024, featuring the “Recycled Toy Workshop”<\/strong>, where visitors can create toys using recycled materials collected from beach cleanups organized by the Palma Aquarium Foundation<\/strong> in collaboration with schools, public and private entities, and other associations.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the “Ocean Quiz Roulette”<\/strong> will allow visitors to learn<\/strong> about the oceans through interactive questions<\/strong> on conservation, while the “Experience Labs”<\/strong> offer a sensory and educational experience<\/strong> on the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems.<\/p>\n

Visitors can also interact with divers and aquarists<\/strong>, who will answer questions about marine animals while feeding sharks, rays, corals, and octopuses<\/strong>. They can also meet technicians from the Palma Aquarium Foundation, who rescue endangered marine animals, and ask them about their work in the “Ocean Guardians”<\/strong> program.<\/p>\n
