A total of 258 activities will be held between 29 February and 3 March on the islands: 184 in Mallorca (144 in Palma and 43 in the part forana), 45 in Menorca, 20 in Ibiza and 5 in Formentera.<\/p>\n<p>Under the slogan &#8220;Som el que estimam &#8211; Estimam el que som&#8221; (&#8220;We are what we love &#8211; We love what we are&#8221;), children&#8217;s, sporting, participatory, gastronomic and cultural activities are scheduled for all tastes and ages. New this year, the Councillor for the Presidency and Public Administrations, Ant\u00f2nia Maria Estarellas, announced that this year&#8217;s event will coincide with the plenary session of the Council of the Balearic Islands Communities Abroad, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Thus, on 28 February, 21 representatives of the Balearic Islands&#8217; houses will meet at the Arxiu del Regne de Mallorca.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-104309 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20200618_110731-1.webp\" alt=\"Dia de les Illes Balears 2024\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20200618_110731-1-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20200618_110731-1-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20200618_110731-1.webp 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Programme of activities for the Day of the Balearic Islands 2024<\/h2>\n<p>The events celebrating the Day of the Balearic Islands 2024 will begin on 29 February, with the presentation of the Ram\u00f3n Llull Awards and the Gold Medal of the Government of the Balearic Islands at the Sa Llotja building.<\/p>\n<p>One day later, on 1 March, the official regional holiday, the traditional Market of the Balearic Islands is scheduled to be held, which will have nearly 200 stalls and will be divided into two areas: the Traditional Trades Market, which will occupy Passeig Sagrera (up to Carrer Consolat), Pla\u00e7a Dra\u00e7anes and the pavement next to S&#8217;Hort del Rei; and the Trades Market, which will be set up on the remaining stretch of Passeig Sagrera as far as Sa Feixina. At this last point, a gastronomic exhibition will also be held, featuring numerous regional houses. There will also be a Fair of Designations of Origin, Protected Geographical Indications and Quality Products of the Balearic Islands with 17 exhibitors between s&#8217;Hort del Rei and the Parc de la Mar.<\/p>\n<h3>Music and shows<\/h3>\n<p>Tomeu Penya, Bep Marqu\u00e9s &amp; Joss Cresp\u00ed, Albert Oliva and La Guineu will perform on the 1st of March at midday at S&#8217;Hort del Rei, while on the 2nd Jaume Anglada will give a concert at 8 p.m. on the Passeig del Born.<\/p>\n<p>The Government has also announced two shows: a Menorcan horse show at Porta Sta. Catalina in the afternoon and &#8220;I t\u00fa qu\u00e8 saps?&#8221;, based on the IB3 quiz show &#8220;Jo en s\u00e9 m\u00e9s que t\u00fa&#8221;. On the occasion of the Day of the Balearic Islands 2024, there will also be 49 workshops on traditional crafts.<\/p>\n<h3>Sporting events<\/h3>\n<p>The sports agenda for the 1st of March will include, among other events, the XIII Marcha Cicloturista, a 90.5 km cycling race, the Gran Premio Govern de les Illes Balears and the Premio Illes Balears de trote (in Son Pardo), the XVIII Trofeo Islas Baleares de Pirag\u00fcismo, the Campeonato de Baleares de Vela, the Campeonato de Nataci\u00f3n con Aletas and several sling shooting and chess tournaments.<\/p>\n<h3>Open days<\/h3>\n<p>The Parc de la Mar will host stands and activities of the Govern de les Illes Balears Exhibition, in which all the ministries will be taking part. As has become a tradition, the Day of the Balearic Islands 2024 will hold open days at the Parliament, the Consell de Mallorca, the Palacio de Congresos, Cort and the Archaeological Museum of Ibiza and Formentera, among others.<\/p>\n<h3>Guided tours to the Palau del Consell<\/h3>\n<p>The Consell de Mallorca will open the Palau del Consell to the citizens on the 1st and 2nd of March. Through a free guided tour, visitors will be able to visit all the rooms. The Palau will also be transformed into a stage for a dramatised route (Feli\u00e7os per sempre?) that tells the story of two civil servants who discovered love in the midst of bureaucracy and now celebrate their chaotic wedding in the Palau. For this activity, for which you can book a place, there will be two performances each day: 1 March at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm and 2 March at 11:30 am and 12:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Raixa estate will be open free of charge to those who come and want to discover it on their own, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, during the two days (1 and 2 March).<\/p>\n<p>Check the full programme of the <a href=\"https:\/\/diada.caib.es\/es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day of the Balearic Islands 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Children&#8217;s Day of the Balearic Islands 2024<\/h2>\n<p>Saturday 2 March will be the turn of the Diada infantil de les Illes Balears 2024 (Children&#8217;s Day of the Balearic Islands 2024), which will concentrate all its children&#8217;s activities at Ses Voltes. Between 11 am and 6 pm, attendees will be able to enjoy musical performances, dances and an ecological merry-go-round. There will also be an area dedicated to solidarity associations in the field of childhood and family.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pequepaginas.com\/agenda-peque\/evento\/8466-diada-infantil-del-dia-de-les-illes-balears?lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consult the activities planned for the Children&#8217;s Day 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>What is celebrated on the Day of the Balearic Islands?<\/h2>\n<p>The official holiday of the autonomous community, a public holiday throughout the archipelago, has been celebrated every 1 March since 1983, when the Statute of Autonomy came into force. On the same day, in 2007, its latest reform was also published in the BOE (Official State Gazette).
