According to data published by SAMU 016, a third of accidents involving electric scooters cause head injuries. The average age is between 40 and 60 years, the majority are men and the hours when most accidents occur are between 9 am and 10 am, and between 19 pm and 23 pm.<\/p>\n
Accidents involving electric scooters in the Balearic Islands have increased by 74% in 2022. There are 696 accidents and a third are associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI). This has been reported by SAMU 016, according to Europa Press. In 2022 there were 230 such accidents. In 2023, 200 have been recorded.<\/p>\n
In 2021 a total of 400 accidents involving electric scooters were recorded in the Balearic Islands. This 2023, up to 31 October, 600 have been recorded.<\/p>\n
The average age of the people involved is between 40 and 60 years old. Sixty per cent are men and 40 per cent are women. According to the same data, a quarter of those who arrive at the hospital have consumed toxic substances, mainly alcohol. Palma, Alc\u00fadia, Eivissa and Sant Josep de sa Talaia are the island municipalities with the highest prevalence.<\/p>\n
As for the times and places where they occur, these accidents tend to take place in avenues and near squares and stations. Between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. are the time slots with the most accidents.
