<\/p>\nThe company Damm and the farmers have agreed to reach a more “consistent” agreement to prevent Agama from reducing by 40% the purchase of milk from farmers on the islands. An agreement has thus been reached to prevent farms from being forced to close<\/p>\n
The Balearic livestock sector and Agama have reached a preliminary agreement on Tuesday following the commitment of the company, owned by the Damm Group, not to reduce milk purchases to Mallorcan farmers below current levels.<\/p>\n
As reported by the organizations, the meeting took place on Tuesday with the aim of unblocking the situation that had been created a few weeks ago. Parallel to obtaining this principle of agreement, the two parties have pledged to continue working in the coming days to find a solution “more consistent” in the short term that is satisfactory for both parties.<\/p>\n

“The current scenario does not satisfy the livestock sector, which is in an extreme situation, but at least the farms are not forced to close”, the organizations have remarked.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the livestock sector have been present, representing all organizations, the managing secretary of UPA-AIA Balears, Joana Mascar\u00f3, and the president of Asaja Balears, Joan Company.<\/p>\n
The livestock sector as a whole, as the organizations have recalled, warned last September 22 that the decision taken by the company to cut by 40% the purchase of milk to the Mallorcan farms meant the “death of the dairy sector of Mallorca”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
