The Mallorcan Vicky Luengo, star of the cover of the latest issue of Mallorca Caprice magazine, premiered her latest film, ‘Suro’, yesterday at the San Sebastian Festival. The film, which is taking part in the festival’s official section, is the first feature film by San Sebastian-born director Mikel Gurrea. In ‘Suro’, Helena and Ivan set out to build a new life in the cork oak forests, but their different views on how to live on the land emerge, challenging their future as a couple.
Gurrea’s film starring Luengo embodies the return to the rural world. A growing trend that has gained ground among citizens in the wake of the pandemic. The two protagonists, accustomed to the city, move to the most rural part of Catalonia. “It has a beautiful script,” said the Mallorcan actress in an interview she gave to Mallorca Caprice in December. The actress attended the presentation with a spectacular image that caught the attentive gaze of the flashbulbs. Luengo wore a long black dress from Dior’s autumn-winter 2022 collection.
Luengo told Cadena Ser, “For me, it was the most special shoot of my life and I am very fond of the film. We started preparing it by going away for a weekend, the two actors, Pol López and I, together with the director, to the Ebro Delta, to a rural house. There we read the film and he showed us a series of film references that had inspired him. It was easy to make a film that is not at all easy to make”.
