1.4 million international tourists arrived in the Balearic Islands in October, spending 1,742 million, up 17%. They represent 9% more tourists than in the same month of 2022, according to the latest data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The islands were the second main destination for tourists this month, with 18% of the total, behind Catalonia; and the third in terms of spending, with 16.9% of the total, behind Catalonia and the Canary Islands.
Thirty-six percent of the international travellers who visited the Balearic Islands in October came from Germany, and 27% from the United Kingdom.
In the Balearic Islands, the average expenditure per tourist was 1,182 euros, 7.3% higher than a year earlier; the average daily expenditure stood at 178 euros (up 9.9%). Trips were 2.4% shorter, averaging 6.6 days.
These tourists made almost 9.8 million overnight stays on the islands, 5.6% more and 17.6% of the total.
In the first ten months of 2022, the Balearic Islands is the region with the second highest number of international tourists, with 14 million (+8.7%), behind only Catalonia. It is also the second with the second highest cumulative expenditure, with 18.2% of the total, totalling 17,241 million euros, 15.8% more than in the same period of 2022.
