The Ajuntament de Palma has announced the programme for the new term in the Casals de Barri, which will see a 10% increase in activities and almost 15% more places compared to the previous year. The programme includes a total of 234 activities and 3,881 places across 11 casals de barri.
Increase in activities and places
This year, the number of scheduled activities has increased significantly, reflecting the growing demand from citizens. In total, there will be 4,363 hours of activities distributed across various themes, and the programme will take place in the 11 casals de barri directly managed by the Ajuntament de Palma, including S’Escorxador, Santa Catalina, Es Jonquet, Camp d’en Serralta, Pere Garau, Son Gotleu, Son Espanyol, Sant Agustí, Son Cladera, Sant Jordi, and S’Hostalot.
Themes of the activities
The activities will be grouped into different thematic areas, offering a wide variety of options for all ages and interests. The main categories include:
- Visual arts
- Physical and mental wellbeing
- Nutrition and health
- Dance and movement
- Educational and creative activities
- Children’s and family activities
- Crafts, handicrafts, and restoration
- Physical activities and eastern disciplines
Physical and movement activities are the most popular, and therefore have the largest number of groups and available places.
Registrations: In-person and online
The registration process will begin on 18th September at 9:00 am for the S’Escorxador and Santa Catalina-Jonquet casals, and at 5:00 pm for the remaining casals.
Registrations can be made both online and in person. It is recommended to use the online platform available on the casals de barri website to speed up the process, as high demand is expected.
Additionally, to encourage participation, during the first few days of registration (from 18th to 23rd September), each person will only be able to sign up for one activity, allowing more residents to access the available places. From 24th September, it will be possible to sign up for more than one activity or in more than one casal.
Public prices and discounts
The prices of the activities will remain the same as in previous years, with a fee of €2 per session, which equates to approximately €44 per term for activities with 22 sessions. Discounts for vulnerable groups, such as those under 26, unemployed people, people with disabilities, and recipients of social benefits, will also remain in place.
Notable discounts include:
- 10% for those under 26.
- 25% for women who are victims of gender violence.
- 50% for unemployed people or those with disabilities.
- 100% for those receiving Minimum Insertion Income or Universal Minimum Income.
Additionally, there are discounts for activities that promote social integration, such as Spanish and Catalan classes for foreigners and digital literacy.
Start of activities
The scheduled activities will begin on 4th October, and Palma residents will be able to enjoy a cultural, educational, and sports programme designed for all ages and needs.
