Holy Week 2026 at Mallorca Cathedral

The Mallorca Cathedral is finalising preparations for the Holy Week 2026 celebrations, the most important liturgical period of the Christian calendar, which will take place from 29 March to 5 April with a full programme of religious services at the Cathedral.

The Cathedral invites both worshippers and visitors to take part in the celebrations commemorating the death and resurrection of Christ, in a context defined by tradition, solemnity and community participation. During these days, the Cathedral will be closed to tourist visits on 2, 3 and 6 April, in order to prioritise the liturgical services.

Main Holy Week celebrations at the Cathedral

The Holy Week 2026 programme at Mallorca Cathedral begins on Palm Sunday with the blessing of palms and olive branches at the Episcopal Palace, followed by the procession and the Passion Mass, presided over by the Bishop of Mallorca, Mons. Sebastià Taltavull.

Throughout the week, several key celebrations will take place, including the charity concert on Holy Monday, the Chrism Mass on Holy Wednesday, the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday, and the commemoration of the Passion on Good Friday, which will include the traditional descent and burial of Christ. The Easter Vigil on Saturday night will lead into Easter Sunday, which will conclude with the Procession of the Encounter and the Easter blessing.

In addition, some of the celebrations can be followed live via the Cathedral’s YouTube channel, while the main events on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday will also be broadcast on IB3 Television.

In addition to the events at the Cathedral, Palma hosts numerous processions throughout the week. Check the full programme here.
